redjgriffin Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 Lakeside Hotel Metarie (8/22/05)Metarie/Harahan zone onlyCheck-in: 3pmCheck out: 12 noonOffer: $45 accepted Total: $50.32 (+ $30 for upgrade)1 room 1 nightCalled ahead requested non-smoking double in quiet area. Comfort and low noise most important factors to me because I was supposed to take my medical licensing exam on Tues. At check-in paid extra $30 for upgrade to executive level. Non- smoking executive level room was actually smaller than original (which ended up being smoking). Very comfy beds, clean, and quiet. Furniture a bit dated. Exec level gets you free cont breakfast and free happy hour beer/wine, snacks from 5-7, and free passes to health club ($5/pp) Found out at check-out that I was NOT supposed to be able to use this upgrade option but they were nice about it. Staff seemed pleasant and willing to answer questions about the area. Overall, very pleased with stay and would recommend.Surprised that exec level room did not have fridge or mini-bar. Original reg room didn't have them either. Web site implies all rooms have fridge at least. Restaurant on site very reasonable..large portions. Excellent hamburger $7.95 and very good ice cream sundae $3.95. Lakeside mall within walking distance with good sized food court. Will likely return this Thurs since exam was cancelled. Will repost with info on standard room since I doubt I'll be able to upgrade again.
