AaronJB Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 My guess for this listing would be the New Yorker Ramada Plaza.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
y528s Posted January 16, 2013 Author Report Posted January 16, 2013 Based on the research on this forum, I tried the following PRICELINE bids for a NYC hotel for 2/3-5. Midtown East - $75Added Chelsea - $80Added Central Park South - $85Empire State Building - $90At $96 I can get a Chelsea area hotel on HOTWIRE, and that's my preferred neighborhood. At this point, is the HOTWIRE deal my best bet?

AaronJB Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 Please keep all posts regarding this stay within this thread. Thanks. What bids have you made so far on PRICELINE in terms of star rating? Ratings differ for some hotels between PRICELINE and HOTWIRE so not being successful on one may not be indicative of what the other has to offer. The 3.5* TS may be a new amenity set for the Paramount.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

thereuare Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 I tried the following PRICELINE bids for a NYC hotel for 2/3-5. Midtown East - $75Added Chelsea - $80Added Central Park South - $85Empire State Building - $90My PRICELINE bids were all 4* until I added Times Square when I added 3.5* too.Above you don't indicate bidding the Times Square zone, so was this additional bidding you have done, and if so, high high did you bid at the 3.5* level? As i'm very familiar with NYC, what is it that you're looking for from this stay? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. y528s Posted January 17, 2013 Author Report Posted January 17, 2013 Thanks for offering your input. I am coming to NY to attend an event at Chelsea Peirs so would like to stay close by Chelsea, or a hotel with a direct transit route close to Chelsea Piers. I'd like to avoid the Financial District. I'd prefer a 3.5-4 star hotel, for two nights (Feb 3-5) and want to spend in the region of $250 inclusive of tax and fees for the stay.
y528s Posted January 17, 2013 Author Report Posted January 17, 2013 I came across a 3* Midtown Central hotel on Hotwire - $86. Any chance you could help ID? I am unsure of the star levels on Hotwire and in any other city a 3* would be fine, but I am more cautious on this visit.3-star Hotel in Midtown CentralFree Internet Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
thereuare Posted January 17, 2013 Report Posted January 17, 2013 The above is a match for the Holiday Inn 57th St so that would be my best guess for this one.Note that the subway only goes as far west as 8th Avenue which still leaves a moderate 15 minute walk to Chelsea Pier. Your other option with mass transit is to try to be near a bus route as there are buses that do stop at Chelsea Pier, but bus transit can be somewhat slower than the subway. You can try our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com and search within '1 mile of Chelsea Piers Manhattan' which will make it easy to see the closest hotels as well as how much more/less it would cost to go up/down in star rating OR to stay closer/further from your ideal location. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know decide and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
