ahkhan99 Posted January 15, 2013 Author Report Posted January 15, 2013 I tried to use Hotwire to find a 3 or 4 star hotel in the DC area. I saw one for $100/night ($189 other sites) for a 3 star hotel in the Alexandria and Old Town area hotel for 2 adults 2 children for March 8th to 13th. Amenities included:Free ParkingFree BreakfastFree InternetIndoor pool(s)Fitness CenterBusiness CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessAccessible for the blindAccessible for the deafAccessible path of travelIn-room accessibilityWheelchair accessibleAccessible bathroomHandicapped parkingRoll-in shower List of hotel included: Springhill Suites-Alexandria Tech Center, Courtyard by Marriot-Alexandria Pentagon South, Hampton Inn-Alexandria Old Town King St. Metro, Springhill Suites by Marriott-Alexandria and Residence Inn by Marriott Alexandria Old Town.I was hoping for the Springhill Suites by Marriott-Alexandria hotel. So I went ahead and bid for that price. After the purchase, I got Holiday Inn Express - ALEXANDRIA FORT BELVOIR instead! After looking at the Holiday Inn hotel, I noticed that it didn't have the indoor pool as advertised on Hotwire! We really wanted the indoor pool for the kids.Called Hotwire and they checked with Holiday Inn and indeed there was no pool, but their sister hotel next door (Springhill Suites) had them. I didn't want to go out to another hotel to the pool and it was going to be an inconvenience. Hotwire said their system needed to be updated and they could either give me a refund or give a 25% of my paid price a credit for future use. I decided to get a refund. So now back to square one again. Need to something else now. The problem is if I tried again, I would more than likely come up with the same hotel again. The Hotwire guy said it would take 7 to 10 days to make the change to their system to update that the pool was not there.Any recommendation? Thanks.
