sergeigrey1 Posted January 6, 2013 Report Posted January 6, 2013 HiWe are planning a holiday in Sydney, Australia and I would be grateful if you could help me to identify 2 hotels we are thinking about booking through Hotwire. We are family of 4 (2 adults, a 3-year old child and an infant) and we ar elloking at the room for all of us between 08 April and 15 April 2013. I used Hotwire's link on betterbidding's webite and it came up with the list of several options.1. Kings Cross - Paddington area hotel3,5 starsUSD121 per nightAmenities (I cliecked to see All amenities): Pool(s), Business Center, Accessible path of travel, Handicapped parkingTripadvisor rating 4 out of 52. Circular Quay - The Rocks area hotel4 starsUSD142 per nightAmenities: Indoor pool(s), Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in showerTripadvisor rating 3,5 out of 5I would very much appreciate your helpSVS
thereuare Posted January 7, 2013 Report Posted January 7, 2013 Best guess for the Kings Cross property would be the Macleay Hotel while my guess for the Circular Quay property would be The Menzies Sydney. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
sergeigrey1 Posted January 8, 2013 Author Report Posted January 8, 2013 Thank you very much for your prompt reply. It is interesting that the same HOTWIRE hotels you helped me to identify curretly have big promotions on Hotels..com and one can choose dffrent types of rooms for the posted prices, which are quite similar to those on HOTWIRE. We might either use current deals on hotels.com or wait and see if there are other more competitive offers appearing on HOTWIRE - since we are not planning to travel until April. Thank you again for your help SVS
thereuare Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 Please use the board's Hotels.com link if you decide to go that route (also found using the Support Page link in the blue header at the top of the board) Also, note that our MAPS and HOTELS.com site has a Hotels..com TAB (the PRICELINE tab loads by default, you'll need to click the HOTELS.com to see the hotels displayed on the map for that service) which might make it a bit easier to visualize the hotels and their location, as well as easily see how much hotels are in a given area and how much more/less it would cost to go up/down in star level OR to stay closer/further to your exact location. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help. sergeigrey1 Posted January 19, 2013 Author Report Posted January 19, 2013 HiAfter a long deliberation, we used special offer on one of the online travel agents to buy Mercuree Sydney for USD1001 for 7 days, or USD143 per room per night, which we thought was a good deal for Sydney (Tripadvisor rating 4 out of 5, better than the secret 3,5 starts hotel posetd on Hotwire). Mercure hotels have a Best Price Guarantee, but they refused to price match the price we paid and give us another 10% reduction in price, which is a shame. Anyway, we thought it was better to go with the known hotel rather than get a room through Hotwire on this occasion. Thank you again for your helpSVS
