ericka7885 Posted January 6, 2013 Report Posted January 6, 2013 This will be my first attempt at using price line to score a deal on a hotel and I need some help! My travel dates are 2/15-2/18, I could also do 2/16 -2/19 if that makes a difference. I am going to stay right on the strip, it does not matter north or south. I am looking for a room between $50 to$75 per night. Is this reasonable? How should I start my bidding to maximize rebids and get the best deals?
ericka7885 Posted January 6, 2013 Author Report Posted January 6, 2013 Would the flamingo be the likely hotel I would get if I bid on 3.5 star hotels in the south strip vicinity? What would be a good starting bid for the dates 2/15- 2/18 or 2/16-2/19?
thereuare Posted January 7, 2013 Report Posted January 7, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet please start by reading your messages. When bidding on PRICELINE you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you choose... the Flamingo would not necessarily be any more, or less, likely than any other hotel in the zone. If you're trying to take a guess as to the hotel that you may receive before your purchase then HOTWIRE will usually be a better option since you can take an educated guess as to which property may be the one being offered based upon the amenities associated with it.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. ericka7885 Posted January 7, 2013 Author Report Posted January 7, 2013 Thank you for your response! I do not necessarily need to stay at the flamingo, that is just my top choice based on its central location. I am most concerned with getting the lowest possible rate which is why I wanted to go the PRICELINE route. What would you suggest I start bidding at?
thereuare Posted January 7, 2013 Report Posted January 7, 2013 Before bidding, note that the Strip North zone can go pretty far north towards the area around the Stratosphere and the Strip South zone can go pretty far south near the Luxor. If each of these locations is acceptable you can begin as follows:When bidding 3.5* in Las Vegas you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. For 2/16-2/19 try:Select 3.5* Strip South...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Strip North...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINEFor 2/15-2/18 try:Select 3.5* Strip South...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Strip North...Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $60, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINEFor 2/16-2/19 try:Select 3.5* Strip South and Strip North...Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINEFor 2/15-2/18 try:Select 3.5* Strip South and Strip North...Bid $68, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $73, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
