George1015 Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 I am looking to reserve a 5 star hotel in Waikiki Beach area from 01/22/13 to 01/26/13. My bids up to $230 (which is my max bid) per night have been unsuccessful. What amount should be accepted? Should I wait until I get closer to my arrival date (01/19/13) before I start bidding on resorts or 4 star hotels? Thanks.
AaronJB Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 It's really not that far until your dates (as hotels go.) With only about a couple of weeks left, hotels likely have a good idea of occupancy trends and if it's busy hotels may not discount as aggressively, if they can figure they can sell walk-ins at full rate. If $230 is your max, you could try bidding up to that point at the 5* level for a few (3-5) more days, then I'd consider lowering your star rating and/or considering alternate zones.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 The Royal Hawaiian is at least one possibility at the 5* level, and given hotel direct rates for your dates above start at $460/nite, i wouldn't necessarily have your hopes for a win at $230 or less... you can certainly try, but it will likely be an uphill battle, imo. I suspect even a 4*/Resort will be near the top of your budget for this trip. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated on your progress and let us know if/how we can be of further help along the way.
