Taisa Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Hi,I'm searching for hotel rooms in NYC, specially Central Park South and Midtown West. This is my first time on priceline and my dates are May 3rd-13th.I'm thinking about bidding for 4* at $130.Do you think is a reasonable rate?? Or should I go higher?Any help is appreciated!!!Taisa.
thereuare Posted January 4, 2013 Report Posted January 4, 2013 Welcome to BetterBidding!Historically this is an expensive time of year in NYC and based upon current rates i think you'll likely need to bid substantially higher for a 4* hotel and/or include other nearby zones...At the 4* level CPS is one of the most expensive zones and rates here usually cost more than in other parts of the city (at the 4* level) and as a result we don't see too many 4* wins in this zone as bidders usually end up winning at a lower price in a different zone before they bid high enough to win in the CPS zone (again, these comments are only for the 4* level). At current rates i think you''ll likely need to be closer to $200/nite to be successful for a 4* hotel and may also need/want to consider including other 4* zones which may be acceptable (MTE, ESB, and TS are frequently bid in addition to the MTW and CPS zones)Using MAPS and HOTELS.com you can filter to show only 4* hotels... what is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel in one of your desired zones?Let us know your thoughts on the above and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
