cathyd Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 We are traveling to Maui 9/23 - 9/26. would like to stay in the Kanapali area. Priceline has 3 resorts listed ranging from 215 -415/night. Is there a way to name your own price and get the westin or hyatt. Unsure about the Whaler, no reviews written. Any suggestions on getting the best price and hopefully the Westin or Hyatt unless someone knows about the Whaler?
bbbb Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 How are you getting prices from PL? Did you mean Hotwire? Looks like the problem night is the 24th. Hotwire has the hyatt for $247 on the 23rd for one night and the Westin comes up @ $266 if you plug in the 24th-26th. If it were me and you don't mind changing hotels I would bid the 23rd and then bid the 24th and 25th on another bid if you can't get all the nights together on one bid.
cathyd Posted August 22, 2005 Author Report Posted August 22, 2005 priceline shop & compare came up with the prices.
thereuare Posted August 22, 2005 Report Posted August 22, 2005 See the Resort class hotels have have previously been reported in the PRICELINE HOTEL LIST and also read the disclaimer at the top of the list.If you're comfortable with any of the Resort class hotels on the list, and the possibility that you could be the first to report a new one, then we can suggest a bidding strategy. If you absolutely couldn't deal with receiving a different hotel than the opaque services may not be for you.Let us know your thoughts and we'll advise as to how to best proceed. cathyd Posted August 23, 2005 Author Report Posted August 23, 2005 i am willing to try anything. Do you think I would have better luck in Kaanapali or the Wialea area?
thereuare Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 I think this is going to be a tough win regardless. What is your maximum bid? Is SPLITTING YOUR BID an option? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
cathyd Posted August 24, 2005 Author Report Posted August 24, 2005 do you think hotwire would be a better option. I have never used them. Do you get better deals on Priceline or hotwire?
thereuare Posted August 24, 2005 Report Posted August 24, 2005 Priceline is usually a bit less than Hotwire, but with Hotwire you have more ability to try to target a specfic hotel. What is your nightly budget? My point about this being a tough win is that rates are very high for some of the dates of your stay... splitting the bid may help you get some dates at a cheap rate, but then you'll likely have to pay more for the remaining days (see above link for details of splitting your bid and the likelihood of having to change hotels)But if you let us know your budget we'll have a better idea if you're in the right ballpark and better be able to figure out your options. cathyd Posted August 25, 2005 Author Report Posted August 25, 2005 I would like to stay in the $100-150/nite range
bbbb Posted August 25, 2005 Report Posted August 25, 2005 You won't get a resort in the Kaanapali zone for less then $150 and I don't think $150 will be enough for your dates.
