Priceline Hotel: 4* New Years Eve - SF Financial District

Hello,

I used the PRICELINE link. And I love this site. I get better at it every time I use it.

I started at $100 and got to $180. But all offers were rejected.

I was wondering if there were any thoughts or rules as to the rates you can find on NYE. Is it even possible to get a hotel on Priceline on NYE?

Peak dates are definitely harder to win since hotels figure they can sell all/most of their rooms on their own at full price so there is little reason to offer deep discounts thru the opaque suppliers. However, we do still see wins at some properties during times of high hotel occupancy, but the discounts are not as much as during slower nites.

Is your stay for just one nite, 12/31? (some hotels may also have minimum nite stay requirements)

Using maps.hotel what is the best retail rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel for this nite?

Thank you for your advice. I used the PRICELINE link and continued bidding until I got to $260, and then I stopped and booked a room at Harbor Court Hotel (about 3-3.5*). I preferred the certainty since I was not going to get a blockbuster deal. So I guess a 4* hotel in the Embarcadero/Financial district of SF is more than $260 for NYE 2012. I hope that is helpful to someone.

Sorry to hear the bidding didn't work out this time around, but as noted above, peak dates with high demand can be difficult to get a very deep discount (but it's certainly worth trying as you did)
