kris10white Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 Hi,I haven't used this site in over two years and want to book a hotel in Nashville for tomorrow night. My husband wants to stay at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel but with AAA discount, mandatory $15 resort fee, $20 parking and tax it will cost $220, which is way too much. I see there's a Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Wyndham nearby. I've never been to Nashville. My husband and I are going with our 1 and 4 year old. Are you able to give me any recommendations on where to stay and how to get it for the best possible price?Thank you so much for your time!Kristen
thereuare Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 Welcome back! You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. Also, note that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While i wouldn't expect too much of an issue in this area given the very young age of your children, and you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. Is this a risk you're willing to accept? If not, HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. As well, what is your expected budget for this stay? (before fees/taxes)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kris10white Posted December 20, 2012 Author Report Posted December 20, 2012 Thank you so much for your response. I am willing to take the risk of only getting one bed. I don't have a specific budget. I'm just trying to make the accommodation as reasonable as possible while still being able to stay at a decently nice hotel. I'd rather spend money on the shows and meals than the hotel. I remember when y'all helped me two years ago you led me to a great hotel in New Orleans that my family was very happy with. What do you recommend I do?
thereuare Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 HOTWIRE has a 3* hotel in the Opryland North zone for $77/nite with: Free Parking Complimentary Breakfast Shuttle Smoke Free Fitness Pool Business Hi-Speed Internet Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped ParkingMore importantly this property is showing a 100% recommendation from previous HOTWIRE guests. My guests is that this is likely the Hyatt Place Opryland, and much like most Hyatt Place properties, this one gets very good reviews. You can either take this 3* property thru HOTWIRE OR you can try bidding on a hotel thru PRICELINE, but with PRICELINE you may not get a hotel as well reviewed (or which includes breakfast which can be a cost saver for a family). As well, the price of this property remains the same even if you search for 2adults/2children so you would also be able to assure bedding for everyone. If you'd prefer to move forward with PRICELINE, let us know which zone(s) you're willing to accept (just the Opryland zone?) as well as your desired star rating and maximum bid... we'll then advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or how we can be of further help.
