Chliszczyk Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 Hello,I am looking for bidding advice for a one night stay over in NYC. We are looking for a 4* in Midtown East or West, but also willing to go to Times Square or Chelsea area. Looking to spend 150 max. Looking for March 16. Any suggestions?
thereuare Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! To clarify, did you first want to bid MTE and MTW up to your limit, then if rejected also include TS and Chelsea... OR is your goal the least expensive in any of these four zones?Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Chliszczyk Posted December 18, 2012 Author Report Posted December 18, 2012 I would prefer MTE or MTW - then if get rejected include TS and Chelsea. Is March a busy time of year for NYC?
thereuare Posted December 19, 2012 Report Posted December 19, 2012 March isn't too bad... more expensive then Jan/Feb; but less expensive then April/May.aWhen bidding 4* in NYC you have SIX re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTW...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $128, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Chliszczyk Posted December 20, 2012 Author Report Posted December 20, 2012 Thanks for the instructions.I did not have any luck with that...I will go through the same process again, this time adding Times Square and MSG.Are people more successful the further out from the date or closer to it?Thanks.
thereuare Posted December 20, 2012 Report Posted December 20, 2012 As far as rates coming down closer to your stay, nobody can say, but do see the related 'Bid Early or Close to Arrival' in our PRICELINE FAQ for more information on this subject. However, you may not be too far off... HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the MTE zone for $167/nite: Fitness Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Tennis Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower...which i'm guessing is the InterContinental Barclay, should this be of interest to you and you're willing to go a few dollars higher in order to be in one of your preferred zones. You could also try another $5-$10 thru PRICELINE bidding, but note that you could receive any 4* hotel in the zone with no ability to try and target the InterContinental.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
