Hi,

I am looking for a 5* hotel on the strip. I clicked on the BiddingHelper.com link and I understand that 3 out of 14 areas have 5* hotels so I can pretty much rebid several times. The only thing is, I prefer a hotel like Vdara because it has a kitchenette. I am also not sure where I should start my bids at? I saw someone got the Wynn Hotel during my dates for $72 I believe. Does that mean I should start at $60?

Also, can i bid for multiple rooms at the same time? If so, will the price i'm bidding on be per room or for both together?

I am looking for the South area of the strip and here are the details:

Hotel: 5 star

Area: Preferably Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South

Dates: Dec 31 to Jan 4

Rooms: 2 rooms x 2 persons each

Thanks,

Rick

You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property and/or purchase a hotel that shows Kitchenette as an amenity. Are you able to accept any hotel in the zone or is a kitchentte a must for this stay?

Another option is the Trump which is usually easy to target and the rooms have kitchenettes... but this property is not directly on the strip.

While the $72 win may have overlapped some of your dates, i'm fairly certainly it likely did not include New Years Eve which is typically an expensive nite in Vegas... $72 is not going to be realistic for a 5* hotel on the strip which includes New Years Eve.

Also, can i bid for multiple rooms at the same time? If so, will the price i'm bidding on be per room or for both together?

Bidding on more than one room is often a non-factor, but if it is a factor, it's usually a negative one (ie- what if the hotel with the lowest rate only has one room available at that price... you couldn't win it on a winning bid for two rooms). However, if you bid separately you run the risk of receiving two different hotels, so if you want to make sure that you and the other couple are at the same hotel, you need to bid for two rooms in the same bid.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed, as well as your maximum bid (since a bid in the $70's is not realistic), and we'll advise accordingly.

Thanks for all the info. Very helpful. Here are the answers to your questions.

Are you able to accept any hotel in the zone or is a kitchentte a must for this stay?

Yes, any 5* hotel in Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South is acceptable. Kitchenette is not a must. I guess I can't be picky when i'm saving money.

I will bid on the 2 rooms at once.

I would like to stick to $175 as a maximum bid if that's possible.

Will do!

To clarify your previous question, your bid price is per room, so hopefully your $175 bid was on a per room basis.

When bidding 5* in Las Vegas you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 5* Strip South...

Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $175

Any questions feel free to ask.

ok, the first strategy got rejected. I think mainly because of NYE hotels being sold out. So I was reading on the board and decided to try splitting up the days Dec31 and Jan1-4. I got the Vdara for $80/night per room from Jan1 -4. Unfortunately, it was sold out on the 31st. So after having my bids rejected upto $400, I decided to just go to hotwire and get the Four Seasons for $444 for the one night (Expensive! lol). Thanks for all the help. :)

Congratulations on your success!

Sorry to see the New Year's Eve date was so expensive but glad to see you found a way to make it work by SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID.

We have used this thread to reflect your purchase of the Vdara for 1/1-1/4, can you please add your Four Seasons win to the board as a NEW TOPIC so that others will be aware of your win when searching the topic titles on the board and in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.

In your post please include the star rating, city, zone, hotel name, room rate per nite, dates of your stay and amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view all of this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.

Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.

Thanks!
