wunfunbny Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 Going to Chicago 9/9 - 9/12, need a room / suite for 4 adults. Any help identifying the Hotwire results would be appreciated. $262 - Magnificent Mile - Wacker Drive4* Hotel, Dining, Fitness and Business Centers. Thanks!
thereuare Posted July 18, 2005 Report Posted July 18, 2005 This matches both the Millenium Knickerbocker, so that would be our best guess. (note that these amenities are common in an area such as Chicago so no guarantees)I will add that you're probably paying a premium for requesting quad occupancy. Before accepting this offer i would at least try to get two rooms via priceline (for up to $130/each).If you'd like to go that route and need help with a bidding strategy let us know. vered4 Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 The Millenium Knickerbocker is always listed as NMA - North Michigan Avenue .... NOT as Magnificent Mile/Wacker Drive. I hope this helps! :)
thereuare Posted July 20, 2005 Report Posted July 20, 2005 Uhhh :)...In that case this looks like the Westin or Hyatt (which both have the same amenties)Still think you'd be better to at least give Priceline a shot. Thanks for the correction. :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
wunfunbny Posted August 18, 2005 Author Report Posted August 18, 2005 I will be in Chicago from 9/9-9/12. Rates on hotwire seem quite high and am waiting out my re-bid period on Priceline. From the looks of the rates, there must be something going on that weekend in the city... So, my question is - do I take what I can get now at an inflated rate, or if I wait closer to my dates is there a better chance of getting a last minute deal. Don't want to risk sleeping on the street! I thought I heard there were better days or times of day to check hotwire or bid as well. Any advice? Thx,Anne
thereuare Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 What zones and star level did you bid on Priceline and how high did you go? What are the prices you're seeing on Hotwire? When does your 72 hours lock-out expire? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
lindabobhat Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 Here's the reason for your high rates:Sep 9-15PRINT
wunfunbny Posted August 19, 2005 Author Report Posted August 19, 2005 I had seen info on the convention earlier, so figured that was what was going on. I went ahead and took a $168 on Hotwire for those dates. Will post the i.d. separately. Thanks for the feedback!
wunfunbny Posted August 19, 2005 Author Report Posted August 19, 2005 3* Chicago LoopRestaurant, Fitness, Internet, Laundry9/9/05-9/12/05 at $168/nt. Result came back with Club Quarters Hotel at 111 West Adams. Never heard of them before, but trip advisor reviews aren't too bad. Big convention in town that weekend, so prices have been up there. We really wanted to be downtown - the location and quality look to be pretty good, so I'm happy!
thereuare Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 Thank you for sharing your results.Club Quarters are membership accomodations, mostly in large cities, and they often give inventory to the opaque suppliers when they're not full. Thye offer basic, decent accomodations, although the rooms tend to run a bit on the small side.Do note that there are two Club Quarters in Chicago, so make sure you show up at the right one! :) Enjoy your stay.
