light_travel Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 Does anyone have any advice that they can lend with respect to staying in LA for 3 nights. I was looking at targeting the beach area in my search (Santa Monica & Manhattan Beach) I
blindman Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 Pl offers 2* upwards in Los Angeles LA Hotels Redondo-Manhattan BeachThis Residence Inn is popularResidence Inn Manhattan BeachIF you can get it (commonly full and you could get upgraded to a 3*)
thereuare Posted August 19, 2005 Report Posted August 19, 2005 Let us know if a 3* hotel in either of those two areas works for you (and note that the priceline boundaries extend beyond just those two cities... you can get a hotel anywhere in the shaded region)I think you may need to bid just a tad higher than your current budget, but we'll get into a specific strategy once you decide if those two areas are right for you. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
dfirsten Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 Good job on SF, good luck in LA. See you on Thursday.
light_travel Posted August 22, 2005 Author Report Posted August 22, 2005 Thanks for the advice, but based on history from my last bid in San Diego and getting a boarder line 4* my wife is giving me the gears and "prefers" not to bid for 3* (Since that was the highest available). My interpretation in "man" language means that I
Kali M Posted September 11, 2005 Report Posted September 11, 2005 D, Your interpretation of your wife's preferences into "man" language appears to be fine-tuned. lol. (Can you train MY husband to interpret that well?) I'm curious if you've won a hotel or made a bid. I was originally looking at Downtown hotels, then found that my docs office is closer to Bev Hills (and my hubby is interested in the clubs down that way - since he's a musician), but can't get a 4* there for the money we have to spend. Thinking of simply keeping with the downtown bid and just catching a bus/metro/cab/whatever when I need to have appointments. I'd LOVE to stay at the beach - would be relaxing - but don't know if I want to pay for the fare from there to the doc (though - I don't know - it may be about the same milage). I just REALLY want to enjoy staying at a nice hotel. I don't need any stress on this trip. Please update when you can. Would like to know your thoughts - especially if you've been researching the areas at all. (I bought a Frommer's and Top 10 to try to help).
light_travel Posted April 10, 2006 Author Report Posted April 10, 2006 I apologize for not following up, I completely forgot. None the less what I ended up doing was searching only for 4*. I didn't have much of a strategy as I was in a pinch to book the hotel between my San Francisco and San Diego portion of my trip. Bidding was as follows:4* targeting down townOpening bid 130, no luckrebid zone 140, no luckrebid 150, and hit.Ended up with the Hilton Checkers in Downtown LA was a nice hotel, but we were practically forced to use valet parking. The hotel is in a good location and during the day there is a lot to see and walk to. However downtown LA seemed pretty sketchy after the sun went down and we didn't do much walking.Regards,
