Artemus Posted December 10, 2012 Report Posted December 10, 2012 I will be staying in el Distrito Federal for a day or two before Christmas (getting a little late, I know). The Mexico hotel list says:4* Sheraton Centro HistoricoAmenities: Shuttle, Restaurant, Hi-Speed InternetThat seems to be what is now called Hilton Mexico City Reforma. Not much demand for Mexico City around here, so I'm not surprised it's a little out of date. I will definitely post where I end up staying. I've stayed in the Airport Hilton and the Marriot, which were both dingy and overpriced, so it will be "Mexico City Area" this time. The 4* Mexico City area hotel I am seeing on Hotwire shows:Amenities: Indoor pool(s), Fitness Center, Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the blind, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parkingNew info would be appreciated, but mostly this is a placeholder to tell everyone who they can probably get in central Mexico City - and of course I will use your HOTWIRE link for all the help this site has provided in the past.
thereuare Posted December 10, 2012 Report Posted December 10, 2012 ...and of course I will use your HOTWIRE link...Please use for your searches too and click before replying!...for all the help this site has provided in the past.Perhaps you could share your previous win(s) with the board so that others can benefit from the information? Perhaps there are some users who have won hotels in Mexico City but just as with your previous wins, didn't post them to the board. ;)Once your date(s) are firm please add them to this thread and we'll have a look at the HOTWIRE hotel offered at that time. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. Artemus Posted December 10, 2012 Author Report Posted December 10, 2012 The Vacation + Flight area of hotwire's website shows three 4 star hotels in the Reforma area and four in the centro historico:Reforma:Sheraton Maria Isabel Hotel & TowersMexico City Marriott Reforma HotelGaleria Plaza ReformaCentro:Hilton Mexico City ReformaMelia Mexico ReformaGran Hotel Ciudad De Mexico (Ruled out - No pool)Plaza Suites Mexico CityThe Marriot Reforma and Galeria Plaza Reforma are significantly cheaper than the other 4 possibilities, so maybe it's one of those.I'm not sure if the "Recommended in 90% of Hotwire customer reviews" information can help me at all.
Artemus Posted January 11, 2013 Author Report Posted January 11, 2013 I finally booked it directly, because the savings were too small. I had some extra people in the second room, which is why I didn't get a good price. That's also why I didn't book with Hotwire's known booking option. Book.it allowed me specify the extra people in the reservation. We stayed at the Gran Hotel de Mexico. It was smaller than I expected, but in the style that is publicized and right on the Zocalo, which is extremely convenient if that is part of your plans.Of course, this site will still be my first option the next time I need to book. Until then...
