123slb Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 Through your PRICELINE link, I bid 2.5* starting at $30; received counter offer to raise to $40. Added Castleberry zone and rebid $32. Received counter offer to raise to $40. Waited 24 hours and bid 2.5* at $36; received counter offer to raise to $40. Added Castleberry and rebid $37 with "successful" upgrade win at 3* level. Rats! That means a resort fee of $12 a day and no free breakfast. This upgrade COSTS me money over my backup reservation at Galleria Palms for $104. At least the free Disney park shuttle has better hours and maybe we'll prefer this Holiday Inn pool.Holiday Inn Resort Lake Buena Vista13351 State Rd 535, Lake Buena Vista, FL 32821Check-In: Tue, Dec 11, 2012Check-Out: Thu, Dec 13, 2012Rooms: 1 roomSummary of ChargesOffer Price: $37.00Rooms: 1Nights: 2Room Subtotal: $74.00Taxes & Fees: $17.48Total: $91.48Best price on the hotel website is $180 for this stay, but would include a free certificate for a one-night future stay as part of a current promotion. I have mixed feelings about this "win."
thereuare Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 Looks like a nice rate and hopefully you'll find the few extra dollars 'all-in' to be a good value for the upgraded accommodations.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding. 123slb Posted December 18, 2012 Author Report Posted December 18, 2012 I can't really say whether this Holiday Inn was a better value than the Galleria Palm where I cancelled my reservation, but there is a lot to like at this hotel. The room was huge and quiet with nice bedding, elegant tile work and the towels were very fluffy. The free shuttle to Disney ran on time and saved parking fees. Only drawback is the darn "resort fee!" I'll bet the front desk hears about it over and over....Pretty nice stay for around $60 a night.
AaronJB Posted December 18, 2012 Report Posted December 18, 2012 Thank you for the follow-up; glad to hear that this was a good stay.
Quietgirll Posted December 26, 2012 Report Posted December 26, 2012 I'm sorry, I don't understand- how would the $37 rate not be better than the $104 rate, even with the resort fee?
123slb Posted May 11, 2013 Author Report Posted May 11, 2013 I'm sorry, I don't understand- how would the $37 rate not be better than the $104 rate, even with the resort fee?Just saw your question...The $104 was the TOTAL price for the two night stay at the Galleria Palms, where I would not have a "resort" fee (vs. $115 total after the Holiday Inn resort fee is added). Since I never stayed at Galleria Palms, I don't know if their property is as nice. They advertised an included breakfast, which the Holiday Inn does not offer and I had to buy elsewhere. But we definitely made the best of it, and enjoyed the quiet comfort at the Holiday Inn.
