Jessiedee Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 I had 2 free hotel night credits from my last cruise adding $70 per night to my bid. I started my bidding at $2 per night ( equaling only $72 total plus taxes ) and went up the past few days. I was trying to wait it out until the very last minute to get the best deal, I was willing to take my chances, with December being a slow month. After this bid, I was going to wait until tomorrow to bid again, tomorrow we fly out on the red eye so I know I was cutting it close but I didn't want to chance it.I put in my bid for $24 per night equaling $94 total for each night and expecting it to be rejected, it was accepted for the Wynn!!! It ended up being about $80 for 2 nights out of my pocket after taxes. I'm excited and wondering if I should try the $20 trick when I arrive there but kinda nervous. We probably won't be checking in until late though. Do you have any room recommendations? Thanks for all your help!!
thereuare Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 Congratulations on your success! A very nice deal for this property... even better with the discount from your previous purchase. All rooms at the Wynn are oversized so shoudl be amply big enough, but if decide to try the $20 trick i would think about what it is that you're looking for more from this property... a larger suite, a view of the strip, etc? Jessiedee Posted December 8, 2012 Author Report Posted December 8, 2012 Thanks! I don't think the size will be the problem. I'm a photographer and plan on shooting a bit while I'm there so maybe a special view or something unique about it. I doubt they're going to upgrade me to a super nice suite and I'm not sure if I want to switch over to encore. Thanks for all the help, this is super helpful!Do you think I could of got it even cheaper if I waited until today? Seems like a slow month... I clicked both links ( several times in fact, over the past few few days while looking through the forum)
AaronJB Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 I'd actually suggest calling and telling them you're a photographer and politely inquiring if there was any way that you could get a room with some sort of view so that you could do some test photos of the Vegas view from your room before doing some photo work in the area. The FAQ discusses purchase timing; there's no way to know if rates will come down (they can go the other way), but it's doubtful the Wynn can be had for much less than this, even in slow seasons.Enjoy your stay.
Jessiedee Posted December 8, 2012 Author Report Posted December 8, 2012 Thanks!! That's a really great idea! I'll update you guys on what they say!Are they going to have a problem with me shooting on the property? I know some places do so it's best to keep it under wraps that you're a professional...
AaronJB Posted December 8, 2012 Report Posted December 8, 2012 Probably wouldn't be a problem, but depending on how many photos you wanted to take around the property, if it's a lot the hotel staff may appreciate if you ask first. You could say that you're a professional photographer and would love to test out some new equipment taking some pictures around the property. If you have a great stay, you could send a brief thank you note along with a couple of great pictures of the hotel. Also, the hotel concierge may be able to suggest some great spots for a pro to take pictures in Vegas. Thanks for keeping us updated on what the hotel says.
Jessiedee Posted December 9, 2012 Author Report Posted December 9, 2012 Well, my flight was canceled and I don't know if we're even going to be able to make it there on time. Any idea what to do in this situation??
thereuare Posted December 9, 2012 Report Posted December 9, 2012 Call the hotel and let them know that your flight was delayed and that you'll be arriving late (even potentially not arriving until the 10th) and that they should make a note on your portfolio. Also, take note of the person you speak with as you don't want them treating you as a 'no show' and cancelling the rest of the reservation.Good luck getting to Vegas... hope your luck turns once you're there. :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
