Hey guys, I'll be touring Florida with my buddy in a little more than a week and we still need to find some lodging. We're definetely on a budget, so we're looking for anything better than a hostel. ;) I'd really appreciate if you could help me out with a bidding strategy.

Did not have any success :(. Got a counter-offer for $63 on the last bid.

Any idead on how to proceed?

If you can scrape up a couple more bucks, ignore the counter-offer and repeat the bidding pattern when 24 hours have passed. Start with $51, and work on up until you hit your budget absolute max.

While success about 1/2 way up to the counter-offer is most common, I've seen (and experienced) success after only a dollar or two additional. Odds are fairly good you'll have success by $57.

Alternatively, there is Fort Lauderdale to the north and Homestead to the south? Fort Lauderdale actually has some Hotwire 2*s within your $50 budget, which suggests you are likely do even better with Priceline.

PS - just found and posted a PRICELINE $10 bonus up in the "Bonus Money Opportunities" area. First page of this site - last area in "Tips and Tricks for Priceline and Hotwire". If you do get it applied to your Priceline account, you can still come back to Betterbidding and link to PRICELINE. That way Betterbidding gets credit for your bid when you are successful. I'd guess your $50 plus the $10 bonus is highly likely to be successful, given the $63 counter-offer.

So, I followed Romelle's advice and kept on bidding according to the same pattern and finally got the Extended Stay America Miami - Brickell - Port Of Miami for 54$. Reviews are mixed but I guess it will fullfill our needs for one night.

In terms of bonus money: As far as I know, using the bonus money requires a three night stay. I tried using it but it didn't work out.

Anyways, can one of you change the topic into a win?

Nonetheless, I'm happy things finally worked for you. The direct booking rate is $114.99, so you did well.
