zzzzzz Posted December 3, 2012 Author Report Posted December 3, 2012 I am going to be in San Juan for a conference and it appears the hotels are pretty full (conference hotels booked up). Any suggestions for bidding strategies?Plan B is to use SPG points to book Sheraton Old San Juan for Jan 20, 2013 and bid for Jan 21, 2013 - Jan 23, 2013 only as it appears those two nights are generally cheaper. Thanks!
thereuare Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 Best guess for the 3.5* would be the Verdanza Hotel while for the 4* my guess would be the San Juan Water and Beach Club. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. thereuare Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 If your intention is to first bid on PRICELINE for a hotel, please do that first (or ask for a strategy) before asking for HOTWIRE hotel identifications. If you're looking to bid on PRICELINE, what star rating do you want to try for and what is your maximum bid? Did you want to first try for your complete stay up to your maximum bid OR did you want to try for the subset of dates first?Do you intend to rent a car, as this zone is fairly large geographically and you could end up quite a distance (in terms of cab expense) if your conference is at the Sheraton. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. zzzzzz Posted December 4, 2012 Author Report Posted December 4, 2012 My intention was to consider Hotwire if the hotels guessed were close to the convention center or one of the other hotels affliated with the conference (there will be shuttles going between those hotels and the convention center). It appears that those hotels are spread throughout San Juan with the exception of Old San Juan (which is unfortunately where the only SPG hotel with availability is located). I was not planning on renting a car.In terms of Priceline, I would like to bid for Resort with max bid under $180. Ideally, entire stay in one hotel would be better but I am not against switching hotels.

zzzzzz Posted January 22, 2013 Author Report Posted January 22, 2013 Ended up using SPG points to book OSJ Sheraton for stay as other options were rather expensive.
