Not sure if this is the right place to post this, apologies if it isn't.

What shows up on one's credit card statement when booking through Priceline? Priceline or the hotel name?

Also, just want to make sure when using PL that I can use my dads credit card, but put my name on the reservation? Will they ask for the original credit card when we get to the hotel?

Many thanks!

Your dad can make the purchase with his credit card and put your name on the reservation (use your name when asked for the guest in Room1). At check-in the original credit card used to make the purchase is NOT needed, but as is standard procedure for most hotel reservations you will need to have a credit card for incidentals (or make arrangements with the hotel for a cash deposit)

The Ft Lauderdale Downtown zone is generally considered the closest to the pier. For a perspective see our sister site Pre Cruise Hotels and compare that to the PRICELINE map.

What is the date of your stay? What is your desired star rating? Maximum bid?

Thanks for the response back, much appreciated. I will compare the map. The date of our stay is Feb 15, 2013 for one night. 2-3 star rating would be fine. Debating about if its better to use HOTWIRE or PRICELINE.....I'm noticing that prices are quite high this time of year. Max bid I would think would be $120. Does that sound unreasonable?

You can certainly try, but at the moment rates look a bit higher than usual and a 2-3* in the Downtown zone may be a little difficult.

You could also try the Airport FLL and Beach zones which aren't too far from the port either and may currently offer rates more inline with your budget (although you do have some time so you could try bidding and wait it out if the Downtown zone is the only one that you're willing to accept)

PRICELINE is usually cheaper than hotwire, but HOTWIRE gives you the ability to take a guess as to the hotel you may receive (thereby having a guess as to the location and reviews), as well as some reviews of the property you're about to purchase which can help add a little more comfort when purchasing an 'unknown' hotel... so it coems down to what is more important to you for the this stay, the lowest possible price OR having a guess as to the hotel and increasing the odds that it's one of the 'better' ones and/or will work well for your needs.

Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

For your date, Hotwire has a 3.5* airport hotel for $110. Free shuttle to the airport. From the airport there are all sorts of reasonable ways to get to the port.
