Treme
Hi all! We're trying to book a room in Nola (4* FQ, Downtown, and Arts/Warehouse); we've entered a few bids ($65-$82) based on some winning prices posted here). We also broke the trip up into a 3-day and 4-day stay, but still no joy! It's just around the start of the Mardi Gras season, so does anyone know whether this time of the year (mid-late Jan) is a difficult time to get good deals on Priceline?Any other tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!Treme Link to comment
Romelle
The low Hotwire 4* for your dates is $115. It does look difficult. Not New York difficult, but at least New Orleans difficult. If you haven't found it already, you might take a look at the Calendar of WIns under the Tools pull-down above. If other members have had success with either Priceline or Hotwire it is posted on the Calendar. As well as your dates for 2013, you might look at the same Mardi Gras range in 2012.Your technique was good to try breaking your bidding into the shorter chunks, IMO. But hotel rates are so very date-dependant. Researching via MAPS and HOTELS.com (also under Tools) will give you a good idea of the general range available via direct purchase. thereuare
Thru MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find at a 4* hotel for these dates thru conventional booking channels? How high are you willing to bid for a 4* hotel before lowering your star rating to the 3.5* level? How much would you need to save to make SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID worthwhile? Also, before replying please add your previous Sheraton win to the board:Please stick with the board format of only one win per thread so that we can reflect the details of each purchase in the topic title and enable each win to have its own thread in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins. We've used this thread to reflect your first purchase of the Marriott, please start a NEW TOPIC for your Sheraton win.Thanks.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. tigersbh
That's too early for Mardi Gras to be the problem. There may be some big conventions going on around those dates. I don't know. Link to comment
Treme
Thanks for your help and suggestions. The SPSP 2013 congress is on Jan 17-19, so that might account for some of the limited availability. We have yet to find somewhere for the weekend portion of our trip (Jan 18-20 incl.). Was hoping to get lucky and not to go above $100 for centrally located 3.5/4* hotels, but it seems that we may have to! Fingers crossed.... Link to comment
