kelken Posted December 1, 2012 Report Posted December 1, 2012 I need help in identifying a 3*hotel on Priceline Express Deals for the Santa Fe area of South Ceillos Road area. The hotel is listed at $54.00 and amenities are: Free internetAirport ShuttleFree breakfastBusiness CenterFRee parkingindoor/outdoor poolFitness centerI also would like to know the difference between Express Deals and bidding the best price. I have researched the forums on this board and found that the last winning bid reported on Priceline was for a 3* hotel at Courtyard South Cerillos Road in May 2012. With the price that is being offered on this Express Deal of $54.00, what is the advantage of bidding and how is it different. Also, can you earn points by purchasing the express deal unlike bidding on a property. I also would like help with identifying another hotel in the Santa Fe Plaza/ Vicinity area which is a 4* and lists the following amenenties for $133.00, Express Deal:free breakfastindoor poolpets allowedrestaurantgym fitnessbusiness centerbed choice available Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. I will need the room Dec 7-10,2012 kelken
Romelle Posted December 1, 2012 Report Posted December 1, 2012 Some bidders have reported getting a better rate via bidding than was possible with the Express Deals. Since bidding is free, you can simply try bidding, starting well below the Express Deal rate and increasing gradually until you get close to it. At some point you may decide there is more value in knowing the amenities than in getting the lower rate, and you can then simply accept the Express Deal. In theory one is not supposed to get point when going through providers like Hotwire and Priceline. That generally turns out to be the case, but I've read of people reporting they simply showed their membership card and were granted full points. In my experience, I've gotten membership benefits like an upgraded room and gotten points for incidental expenses, but I've not personally gotten full points. I'll leave the identification to the experts here. But be forewarned - the product is new enough there hasn't been much reporting yet. So there is less material for IDs. If you do go ahead with the Deal, I hope you report back and add to the "data bank".Romelle

kelken Posted December 2, 2012 Author Report Posted December 2, 2012 The lowest price is important. Since I had never seen the Express Deal I wanted information before making a bid on Priceline. As I was researching I came across this category and wanted clarification. I was looking to bid approximately $50.00 for 3* as am opening bid based on the wins that I have seen on the board. I also would prefer to get something like the Courtyard and thought if it was identified as a possible hotel for the Express Deal that I might purchase that one instead of going with the unknown So I am dealing with two issues as I see it. Help with identifying the hotel listed in Express DEal for $54 and also bidding on a possible 3* if I have to bid. Therefore, I was wondering what your best guess was for the Express Deal property because if the Express Deal is $54 and I bid $50 then that is not that much of a difference. My question, is this a good strategy since the response was that some people get better deals bidding instead of purchasing the Express Deals. Since the last 3* on the board went for $50.00 that I saws, is my opening bid of $50.00 too high? Thanks Kelken
thereuare Posted December 2, 2012 Report Posted December 2, 2012 The Courtyard doesn't offer a Complimentary Breakfast as a standard amenity to all guests so that would not likely be the Express Deal offered above, which includes a Free Breakfast as a listed amenity.Unfortunately you have no re-bid zones available when bidding 3* in this region. With just a little time before your stay i would bid as follows:Select 3* Cerillos Rd...Bid $43If the above is rejected i would re-try over the next 3 days, waiting 24 hours between each bid: $45, $48, $50If you get up to $50 and are still rejected then i'd just take the $54 PRICELINE Express deal (if still available)Please start all your bids with the board PRICELINE links.Any questions feel free to ask.Good luck and let us know how it goes. kelken Posted December 6, 2012 Author Report Posted December 6, 2012 I wanted to report that I won the bid using your suggested strategy and PRICELINE link. I started at $43.00 and was rejected and invited to rebid immediately by increasing by 13.00 to $56.00. I instead waited until the next day and rebid. Becasue my time was running outand I would be tied up and did not have time to wait out the process, I bid for a 3 star at $50.00 and it was accepted. The winning hotel was Hyatt Place on South Cerrilos Rd. Basically, I received what I think is a good choice for the going rate of $50.00 which is a discount over the $94.00 listed on its site.It is approximately 7 miles from the center of town. Thanks for your assistance.
AaronJB Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Congrats on your success.Solid win for this Hyatt Place property! Glad you are pleased with the win.Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
