Hotwire Hotel: Best value for 10-14 nights NYC

Hello,

I'm looking to take 4 people to NYC next year in the middle of September 2013.

Can I find something for 100 a night or am I dreaming? Jersey City and Long Island City were suggested as alternatives but prices don't seem to be that much better. I'm going to be all over the city so Jersey City seems a reach for me. I will be going to one Yankee, Mets, and Cyclone game as well as hit the top tourist sites all over Manhattan.

LIC seem like a good central subway location. Would you agree? It is on the same subway system right? Not like Jersey City?

If LIC is the place, when should I bid and how much?

I have 4 people so is Priceline out?

If Manhattan is the place to be what do you recommend? I really don't want to spend more then 1500-2Grrrr on lodging so the longer I can make that last the better!

PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. If this is not a risk you're willing to accept, HOTWIRE would be the better option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)

What is the minimum star rating you're seeking? If you search HOTWIRE (for quad occupancy) and your dates does anything appear within your desired budget and star rating within Manhattan? What about within Long Island City?
