Jerry_from_Pittsburgh Posted November 25, 2012 Report Posted November 25, 2012 After a long delay in leaving San Jose, a friend and I decided to stay overnight in Jaco rather than try to travel La Costanera at night. We booked the "Hotel Poseidon" via Hotwire, at $56 + fees.We found out:(1) Although Hotwire claimed a comparable price was $103, the hotel's own website offered the room for $55.25. Another guest booked the hotel via Hotels.com for $51.(2) Hotwire told us the rate included free parking, but it did not. ($6 more) My confirmation email did NOT mention the free parking, and it disappeared from the listing next day. But both of us saw it in the listing (and since we were driving, this is one reason we booked that hotel).(3) Hotwire labelled it a 3* hotel, on par with Sheraton, Radisson, Holiday Inn Express, and others. While not a "dive", I'm not sure this would qualify as even a 2* hotel by U.S. standards. (Broken furniture, burned-out lights, knob-lock door with signs of prying, creepy guy opening our door with the key but without knocking, ....)My confidence in the value and integrity of Hotwire is seriously shaken after this experience -- at least for non-U.S. hotels. It will take some effort to convince me to trust them internationally again!

Jerry_from_Pittsburgh Posted April 25, 2013 Author Report Posted April 25, 2013 Sorry for the delay ....We stayed the night of Thursday, 2012-11-12, for one night. The listed amenities: Free Breakfast, Free Internet, Boutique Hotel, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in showerIf you count a PC for guests as a "business center" and assume first-floor rooms are "accessible", then all of these amenities were present. (Again, we saw "Free parking" in the first description; maybe it was a fluke.)
AaronJB Posted April 25, 2013 Report Posted April 25, 2013 Thank you for the follow-up and for confirming the amenity set for this HOTWIRE property so that we can update the site's Hotwire Hotel List.
