My bid was accepted on the first try -- I guess I must have left a little money on the table, but it was in line with other 5* bids.

The NH Barbizon Palace is located directly across the street from Amsterdam Centraal Station and about two blocks from Dam Square.

The hotel itself is pretty underwhelming for a 5* property. It's in a great location and is in a re-purposed old church, but the rooms were noisy, the bed linens looked like they were from a 2* hotel and the tub/shower had a dangerously high rim.

It was a fair price for the hotel room, but this just isn't a 5* property.
