Priceline Hotel: 3,5* / 4* @ Zones 7+8 (Airport Hotel)

Hello @ all,

i tried Pricelist for the first time and didn't have success yet.

I bid up to 120$ for any 3,5* or 4* Hotel in Area 7 or 8, using the rebid zones.

120$ equals 145$ with taxes i think...so in my opinion there isn't a real value for bidding for these hotels via pricelist.

Or do you think I'm wrong and there is a value? How much do you think i háve to bid more?

I want to stay in SFO international Airport - Burlingame or SFO North - San Bruno.

The date is 17/4/2013 - 4/18/2013

Additional i'm searching in SFO for 3/28/2013 - 3/30/2013 (this would be the start for my US trip).

For these nights i would like to stay in either

Marina - Lombard Street

Japan Town - Civic Center North

Fisherman's Wharf

Civic Center South - Hayes Valley

Union Square West - Nob Hill

Union Square East

It should be a 3,5* or 4* hotel.

What do you think is a realistic price?

Median rate is 274$ for 3,5* at Fisherman's Wharf...o_0

Is it possible that my dates are too far in the future?

Is it correct, that it is more difficult to score a good deal if the travel date is far in the future like mine requested date?

I assume that the hotels don't know yet if they have overcapacity in April 2013 and that's why i can't score a deal at the moment.

I tried today for a 3.5* SFO Airport Burlingame with rebid zones Civic Center, Japan Town, San Bruno, Marina and Richmond...up to 121$ and no success...

Median Rate is 181$ at the moment.

Not necessarily, we have seen great deals 6, 9, or even nearly 11 months in advance and when users have tried to replicate those wins closer to the arrival date they were turned down. However, this doesn't mean that you should 'chase' bids higher and higher.

At any given point in time hotels have a very good idea of where their current reservations should be for any date in the future. If a hotel feels they should have 20% occupancy for a date 9 months from now, and are only at 5*, they may offer deeply discounted rooms to the opaque suppliers in an attempt to get closer to their target 20%, then in a few weeks when they reach that number they pull all the discounted inventory. For these same dates they could be 'under' their target occupancy levels at the moment, but get unpredicted demand closer to the travel dates, thereby raising retail rates and not offering any discounted inventory thru the opaque suppliers.
