esta Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 I would like to use betterbidding to bid for a hotel for the above period, preferably a 4*.May I know if I should bid for 1 night and add-on later or should I bid 5 nights in a row? Thanks in advance!
AaronJB Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 What would be your desired budget per night, and which zones would be of interest? You can use PRICELINE's "add a night" feature for as many nights as the original reservation (if you bid for one, you can only add one.) Additionally, there is no way to guarantee that the hotel will allow adding a night during the period of your stay (they may say no, or charge more for an additional night.)The best option is to bid for all nights together. If there is a convention or other event during part of your stay, then it may be worth exploring splitting your stay; otherwise the best route is all nights together.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 Note that i've edited your topic title to reflect the US date format, if you're dates are not Dec 10-Dec 15 please let us know.Note that when you try to use the 'extend your stay' feature on PRICELINE you can only attempt to add up to the same number of nites as your original purchase, so if you buy one nite you won't be able to try to add the 4 additional nites you need, you would only be able to add up to one additional nite. As well, the add a nite feature is not always offered, and even when it is, you're not assured of being able to receive the same hotel at the same rate, PRICELINE can come back with one of three responses:1) you've extended your stay2) there is availability but only at $xx (more than your original win) and you then have the option to accept or reject the offered price3) no availability to extend your stay at any priceWhich zone(s) are you willing to accept? What is your expected budget? Are you ready to begin bidding now? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. esta Posted November 18, 2012 Author Report Posted November 18, 2012 Thanks for the reply. In fact, not too sure which area, not the airports definitely. I think most of the 4* should be alright in terms of room cleanliness in particular. My budget would be up to $150. Any chance I could get a 5* with that? Since there are 2 areas that offer 5*.Any strategies for me to secure my bid?Thank you in advance!
thereuare Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 You can try if you'd like, but at current rates my guess is that a 5* hotel will be out of your budget. Please determine which zone(s) you're willing to accept and we'll then be able to suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. esta Posted November 18, 2012 Author Report Posted November 18, 2012 I will most probably start with Champs Élysées - ADT, Eiffel tower-Grenelle-Montparnasse, Opera Quarter East-Les Halles and St Germaine.Since there are 4* hotels in these areas, I will not have any re-bid zone. how should I proceed?
thereuare Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 To clarify, these are the zones as per PRICELINE's website:Champs Elysees - Arc De TriompheEiffel TowerOpera Quarter East - Les HallesSt. Germain When determining your re-bid zones you want to find other zones (that you really don't want to stay in) where the highest star rating offered is less than 4*, of which in Paris there are currently FOUR such re-bid zones... are you able to determine your FOUR re-bid zones or do you need us to break it down further how to determine your re-bid zones? (if you're confused see Priceline Re-Bidding Explained, then if you're still confused just post back and we'll go thru it one step at a time)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
