faithful96 Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 This was a bid that backfired... we were trying for the Marriott right in the center of the city (by the Bourse) and bid on the high side at $70. I know we could have gotten the Renaissance Brussels Hotel for $55 ish a night. Learn from my mistake.Reservation Information: Renaissance Brussels Hotel Check-In Date: Wed, Nov 16, 2005 Check-Out Date: Sun, Nov 20, 2005 Your Offer Price: $70.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Subtotal: $280.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $68.02 Total Charges: $348.02 We are bidding for 4 nights in Amsterdamn and and 4 in London too, hopefully those will go better..
thereuare Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 Thanks for the post. Here is a thread with more on the subject: DON'T BID HIGHER FOR A SPECIFIC HOTEL.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
faithful96 Posted August 19, 2005 Author Report Posted August 19, 2005 Thanks for the link, thereuare. I read through the entire thread (although to be honest, I need to read it again). I tried to apply some of the logic to a Philly bid I made today. After reading the thread, I see that with the Brussels bid, we took a gamble and it didn't pay off. It certainly was a crapshoot. Luckily we were willing to accept the other 4* hotels in Brussels.
