mrscasa Posted November 16, 2012 Author Report Posted November 16, 2012 Thanks very much, thereuare. I was thinking it might be the Sheraton New York and thought I'd double-check with the experts. =)We're going to be staying with friends in New Jersey for the 3 nights prior. Thought it'd be easier to head to JFK airport in the morning from Manhattan, rather than have to take the train in (plus, not even sure it's operating at the time we need to leave...).What are thoughts on the Marriott properties? I'm thinking of exercising the free night that I can get using points from a credit card churn. What do you think?Cheers and thanks again.
thereuare Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 The Sheraton is not the best hotel in the city, but the reviews have greatly improved since they renovated rooms a couple of years ago.I don't know how often or where to you frequently travel, or what type of hotels you usually stay in, but $126/nite for a 4* hotel in NYC is relatively inexpensive... i would tend to save my free nite(s) for a more expensive stay or when rates are closer to $200+, but if you don't see yourself traveling to an expensive hotel market in the near future then NYC is as good of a place as any to burn your free room. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mrscasa Posted November 17, 2012 Author Report Posted November 17, 2012 Hey thereuare,I know $126 is a really good deal, especially for NYC and for the time of year. We love to travel and it's always a game of when to save or burn the points. =)It's not an option for me to use the Marriott points anyway because i wouldn't get the bonus points until weeks after my trip. Will definitely book on here if we end up booking through links on the forum. Thanks again for everything and have a great weekend!
thereuare Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay OR if we can be of further help.If you decide to book direct please use the links in our Support Page, or you may also want to try our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com if you're looking for something in a specific location. However, i don't think you're going to get anything close to $125/nite for a 4* hotel thru conventional booking channels for this nite. mrscasa Posted November 20, 2012 Author Report Posted November 20, 2012 Good evening. We decided to book a paid rate at the Sheraton instead, to take advantage of getting a few more Starwood points from their double the points event and to save the hard-earned points for something more expensive. It's been so interesting reading all of the posts and you guys are fabulous for being so accurate! Thanks again and I'm sure I'll be back for more advice another trip. Cheers and all the best!
