* Began bidding at $75 City Centre 4*. Counteroffer of $97, which I declined. I suspect it was the Movenpick.

* Rebid City Centre + North 4* @ $80. Not accepted.

* Switched to Central Canals 4* @ $75. Bid accepted.

It's a good price, but I hate winning on the first try in an area, because that just means that I might have gotten it lower.

* Retail price was $199, so a big savings there.

* Movenpick was offered for $116 at Hotwire. If I had split up the stay, Saturday was $116, Sunday-Monday were $86.

* There was an Amsterdam South 4* for $85. I think that's the Okura?

Hotel is in a great location, at the Leidseplein and steps away from the Vondelpark. It's right next door to the Marriott, where I have stayed before, but thought that was overrated as a 5*. The NH hotel looks to be as nice with more modern rooms + same location and $40-50 cheaper / night.
