CBC373 Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 I have a trip coming up for Seoul from Dec 22-26.Conventional booking would cost me about 250 min plus taxes.Would I be lucky enough to get a good deal considering its the holiday season or are my chances slim?I am looking at 4 or 5*, preferably 5*....
thereuare Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 I assume that is $250/nite?Either way it costs nothing to bid (unless your bid is accepted), so as long as your plans are firm you should give it a try. Generally speaking hotels are not that busy during the Christmas holidays (family destinations such as Disneyworld excluded) since there is such a reduction in the number of business travelers.Which zone(s) are you willing to accept? What is your maximum bid for a 5* before lowering your star rating and trying for a 4*?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. CBC373 Posted November 20, 2012 Author Report Posted November 20, 2012 I am looking at the Gangnam district. Actually, downtown Seoul is also ok. As long as I can get a good deal.Been checking the priceline map and there doesnt seem to be a whole lot of bids for Seoul.Hopefully I can get something at around 150USD for a 5*.
thereuare Posted November 20, 2012 Report Posted November 20, 2012 At current prices a 5* hotel at $150 may be tough, but with time on your side you can try as follows:When bidding 5* in Seoul you have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Seocho-Gangnam...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Downtown...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Seocho-Gangnam and Downtown...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110If rejected wait 24 hours and re-try, once again starting with a PRICELINE link from the board:Select 5* Seocho-Gangnam...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Downtown...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Seocho-Gangnam and Downtown...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130If this too is rejected wait another 24 hours and using a PRICELINE link on the board:Select 5* Seocho-Gangnam...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Downtown...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* Seocho-Gangnam and Downtown...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150In 2 days you'll know if a 5* is available at $150 or less in either of these zones.
