Mizcity Posted November 19, 2012 Author Report Posted November 19, 2012 Thanks for your help, none of these bids were accepted. I was not able to complete the last portion of bids (Select 3.5* SB Ocean Drive and SB Collins...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $148, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150) as priceline told me I had already made those bids before so instead I tried 3.5* SB Collins and SB Central for bids $118-$133.I then decided to try to include 3* hotels and did the following:South Beach Ocean Drive 3* at $90 (rejected)SB Ocean Drive + SB Collins Avenue (rejected)SB ocean Drive+ SB Collins Avenue+ SB Central $110 (rejected)Any thoughts on how to proceed? Should I attempt bidding at Hotwire or just wait the 72 hours? Thanks!
Romelle Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 The wait time is now 24 hours rather than the old 72 hours. You've got a little more room to bid at the 3* level. But you've also got plenty of time to check other options. Is Hotwire offering something you find interesting and feasible?Romelle
Mizcity Posted November 19, 2012 Author Report Posted November 19, 2012 Thanks for that note, Romelle! 24 hours is a much easier wait than 72 :) On hotwire, the hotels seem comparable, maybe a half star in their rating difference? Have people found one (Hotwire or Priceline) to be preferable over the other? Is there a major difference in bidding? Thanks for your help!
Romelle Posted November 19, 2012 Report Posted November 19, 2012 There isn't any bidding on HOTWIRE. You just accept the listed price. HOTWIRE allows one to select for specific amenities - free parking, airport shuttle, whatever ?? The positive reviews % is usually noted. Also, the experts here can provide an educated guess as to what the hotel might be - before purchase. Priceline can be a little less expensive. The zones for PRICELINE and HOTWIRE have different boundaries. There is the fact that Hotwire can be more generous with stars - the half star difference you mention. But I've seen examples of a full star difference, AND examples of no difference. The hotels offered can be different, with one hotel only showing up via PRICELINE and another only showing up via HOTWIRE. For examples of the different South Beach hotels in the two, you can browse the hotel lists at the very beginning of the Priceline -Florida and Hotwire - Florida areas. Romelle
