eBoon Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 Hello everyone,New to the board and I am getting ready to get the best deal I can in Vegas for my upcoming stay in January (Jan 27-31). I am looking for the best deal I can get on a 5* hotel on the strip. My research shows that the only zones that have 5* hotels are:Las Vegas Strip North (I think these are the hotels - Wynn, Venetian, Palazzo, Wynn Encore)Las Vegas Strip Vicinity North (I think this is the Trump)Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South (I think these are the hotels - Vdara, Bellagio, Cosmopolitan, Araia)I have read and am pretty sure I understand the re-bid strategy that's outlined on the board - so I'm looking for any advice that board members might have for me. Thanks in advance for your help!Tom
Romelle Posted November 11, 2012 Report Posted November 11, 2012 You might post just what zones you think are the correct ones for re-bidding. Somebody will double check your understanding. Also, you might take a peek at what Hotwire has for your dates. One can often do better with Priceline bidding, but it will give you a good general idea of the rates. Romelle
eBoon Posted November 11, 2012 Author Report Posted November 11, 2012 Thanks for the reply - I believe all other Vegas zones are valid for re-bids as the ones I mentioned are the only 5*. Please correct me if I'm wrong.Tom
Romelle Posted November 12, 2012 Report Posted November 12, 2012 You have it right. But do check just before each bidding session. Things change.Romelle
thereuare Posted November 12, 2012 Report Posted November 12, 2012 Are you bidding all three zones in your first post, as the Trump is not really what most consider to be "The Strip".What is your maximum bid for this trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. eBoon Posted November 13, 2012 Author Report Posted November 13, 2012 No - I'm not interested in the Trump - so just bidding zones North and Vicinity South. (Of course that means on my rebids I have to stay away from Vicinity North).Went through my first batch of bids last night - got up to $79 and all bids rejected :( - I would really like to get something for <$90 per night.
AaronJB Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 $90 likely isn't going to be enough for a 5* in Strip North/Strip South for these dates, although it's worth a try. I'm guessing a 5* Strip South win will likely take around $95-110.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
eBoon Posted November 13, 2012 Author Report Posted November 13, 2012 Any thoughts or advise on how far in advance to bid for best price? Am I a little bit early at this point for an end of January stay? Thanks all for your help and advice!
thereuare Posted November 13, 2012 Report Posted November 13, 2012 As far as timing your bid see the related 'Bid Early or Close to Check-in' link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Rates in Vegas change more quickly and to greater extremes then just about any other city in the country and it is impossible to know if rates will drop closer to your stay OR move even higher from here. Based upon current rates i think the range that AaronJB posted is in the right ballpark... perhaps even a few dollars more.Using MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find at a 5* hotel thru conventional booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
