Wanting to book a 4 Star hotel in Hollywood area for the dates 01/15/2013 - 01/20/2013..

I've started bidding at $80 & shot up to $165 & still no luck..

Am I booking too early? Or is this a busy time?

Any help or tips will be highly regarded.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.

There are only a few 'known' 4* hotels in this zone so there aren't that many hotels available to accept your bid, in addition to room rates being generally being high for these dates at this time.

Using maps.hotel i did find the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel for $177/nite and this is refundable up until a few days before your stay (always confirm the terms during the check-out process). As this only a few dollars more than you have already bid, how about booking this as a back-up which protects you from any further rate increases as well as gives you the ability to continue to bid on PRICELINE and/or HOTWIRE in an attempt to 'better' the deal.

Another option would be the Loews Hollyood although this is a bit more expensive at $199/nite.
