Nittpics Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 I am planning on staying in Manhattan from December 28th-January 1st (4 nights)I am attending a multi night event at Madison Sq garden.I would prefer a 4 star in MSG locale (but my budget is $200 out the door)I am willing to go 3.5 Star and I am also willing to stay in these Locals as well:MSGCPSSOHOHKChelseaESBAMTEMTWTSAccording to Priceline I see people bagging deals as low as $135 but i ASSUME said people were not booking New Years Eve.Do I stand a shot at getting this or meeting my budget?I plan on trying Saturday when my funds are availableThanks in advanceMichael
SomeGirl Posted November 7, 2012 Report Posted November 7, 2012 No advice here but just wanted to wish you a phabulous time :). Hope the experts come through with a solid strategy.
AaronJB Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 $200 "all-in" (taxes/fees included) is unfortunately unlikely going to be realistic for these dates given NYE, which is one of the most expensive nights of the year. It would depend on the zone, but I think you're likely looking at the $230-260 level for a 3.5* and possibly $270-300 for a 4*. Given rates that I'm seeing at this point, a 3* will also likely take over (at least moderately over) $200.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages. While i agree that a $165 bid price (equivalent to $200 all-in) is not likely enough for these dates you could give this a try if you'd like:When bidding 3.5* in NYC you have FIVE re-bid zones. Nittpics Posted November 8, 2012 Author Report Posted November 8, 2012 Thanks Thereuare.Any chance I would bag a better deal the day of or am i better off trying now? I was planning on bidding saturday
thereuare Posted November 8, 2012 Report Posted November 8, 2012 If you were to be successful now i would consider it a very good deal and think the chances of it getting much better would be fairly low. With many/most hotels selling out on their own for New Years Eve the probability of them offering deeply discount inventory for this nite is very low, why would then sell rooms at a deep discount when they could likely sell out on their own at full price?
