yyzcdg Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 Hey,First time bidding on Priceline and new to the board. I already have a refundable reso at YOTEL 11/30-12/02 for $231++ ($269/nt ai). Would it be worth it for me to try and get a 4* hotel at either Hell's Kitchen or MTW? Wouldn't mind a room at the Sofitel or any of the Kimptons. Any advice much appreciated. Cheers.
AaronJB Posted November 1, 2012 Report Posted November 1, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding. There is no way to guarantee a particular property when using PRICELINE; there's a number of 4* properties in MTW and you have to be willing to stay at any one of them. The only *known* 4* in Hell's Kitchen is the Ink48, but there could be others/new ones added at any time. The Yotel is a 3.5* on PRICELINE; in terms of 4* what would be your desired max budget per night for this stay? Would any other zones be acceptable?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

yyzcdg Posted November 2, 2012 Author Report Posted November 2, 2012 Thanks so much for the reply. We are somewhat set on the area but not the hotel. I think I will try to bid for a 4* hotes in MTW and Hell's Kitchen and hope for the best. I don't have much bidding room since I think the refundable rate we got on Yotel was quite descent. Will keep you guys posted on my success. Cheers!

I have already booked Pod 51 for $163/night, but with a shared bathroom which I'm not crazy about. So, I'm wondering if you are able to get any reasonable rates on those nights. Thanks!
yyzcdg Posted November 3, 2012 Author Report Posted November 3, 2012 Hey. I went upto $180 (~$440 ai for 2 nights) with no luck. There will be two us sharing the room so savings would be marginal above this price since I have Yotel booked for ~$530 ai. I might try again closer to my dates. Good luck with your bids. Cheers!
AaronJB Posted November 3, 2012 Report Posted November 3, 2012 Thank you for keeping us updated; these dates are a very busy time of year in NYC and I'd suggest picking a ceiling and continuing to bid up to that ceiling every 2-3 days; if a couple of weeks go by and nothing accepts, you can choose at that point to move higher, go for a lower star rating or look at alternate zones.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
