Moosu Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 Hi BetterBidding!I bid a little on the Houston Hobby area back in July but shelved it for a while, and put a reservation down on a nearby hotel as a backup plan. Now that it's nearly trip day, I decided to come back and try to beat my backup plan price - and of course I did!I started at $36 for two nights (Friday, October 26 to Sunday, October 28) on a three-star hotel in the Hobby vicinity, and PRICELINE (I used the link from a BetterBidding page to reach it) wasn't able to accept it, but DID come back with the 'Try Again Right Now' offer. It suggested I raise my bid $9 to $45 per night. I've seen it before and had read here how you might be able to do even better, so I declined the offer and tried a couple more times until I reached $40 and won!40/night for two nights $80 plus 21.28 in fees = 101.28 total.I was hoping for the Marriott which I'd stayed at in August, but won the Holiday Inn Houston Hobby Airport location instead. Its benefit is that it is even closer to the airport, so I hope that all other things there produce a good stay.(I had bid on a separate trip to the same area in August and got the Marriott at $41, but that truly was last minute and by the time the trip was over I had forgotten to post about it. I can if you'd like, though!)Thank you again BetterBidding!-Moosu
