Pilleriin Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 Would love to stay (4ppl 2 rooms) in Hilton Manhattan or close by in 4* hotel from 12th of November till 18th of November this year. Our price would be 105$+taxes. Any chance? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 Welcome to Betterbidding.PRICELINE and HOTWIRE are discount services where one has to have a great deal of flexibility as a trade-off for the discounted rates, and it's really not possible to guarantee or increase the odds of a particular hotel. With PRICELINE, when you bid for a particular star rating/area, you have to be willing to accept any hotel at that star rating within that area. With HOTWIRE, one can make an educated guess as to which hotels are showing based on the info given, but only one hotel is shown for each set of dates at each star rating in each zone, and it may not be one you're interested. Additionally, despite its size, the NY Hilton has only been rarely reported to the board.Unfortunately, this is a busy time of year, and $105 will not be enough for a win - $100-105 for a 4* win is generally seen during the slowest times of year (Jan/Feb). Based on the rates I'm seeing, a 4* in Midtown (+/- depending on zone) will likely cost $170-200 and quite possibly higher.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

thereuare Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 Depending upon just how far you're willing to go outside of just MTE, a 3* may cost you $150-$175 and a 3.5* still close to $200 or more.Go give you a better perspective of hotel rates in NYC for these dates:Using MAPS and HOTELS.com, what is the best rate you're able to find for a 4* anywhere near the Hilton????Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Pilleriin Posted November 2, 2012 Author Report Posted November 2, 2012 Hi,Has Sandy affected hotel prices in NY? I havn't made any biddings yet as I am flying in from Europe I have to get my visa first.
AaronJB Posted November 2, 2012 Report Posted November 2, 2012 It appeared to effect prices for a couple of days before through a few days after, but prices are once again elevated to levels traditionally seen during this time period (which is one of the busier time periods of the year, especially late Nov into early Dec.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
