Priceline Hotel: Bidding strategy 4*-5* in NYC for 10/23-10-26?

My mom and I are planning a trip to NYC.

Regarding neighborhood: zones 2 / 3 / 5 / 6 / 10 / 11 / 12 / 15 / 16 / 18 would all be good.

4 stars would be good,- if it would be 5 stars, we would not mind, either... ;-)

But a nice 3.5*-hotel would also be ok.

max. about $ 220 /night.

A bidding strategy would be greatly appreciated...

(No 5*-hotels were currently listed in zones 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18.

No 4*-hotels were currently listed in zones 4, 8, 9, 13, 14, 17.)

Please list the names of the acceptable zones and we would be happy to offer our thoughts on how to proceed. Additionally, would your desired budget be $220 "all-in" (including tax/fees) or $220 + taxes/fees?

Here we go another time:

Acceptable zones:

2: Central Park South

3: Chelsea Are

5: Downtown – Financial District

6: Empire State Building Area

10: Madison Square Garden

11: Midtwon East

12: Midtown West

15: SoHo Tribeca

16: Times Square

18: Upper West Side

Preferred zones:

2 / 6 / 12

Taxes etc. Preferably $ 220/night all in, but if it is a nice 5*/4*-star hotel, it could also be the amount without taxes etc.

We are considering extending the stay through the weekend (26-28). Do you think the chances for a nice deal would be good for that weekend as well?

We would not mind changing hotels.

Are you willing to pay more for one of these three zones OR is ultimately the lease expensive hotel in any of your acceptable zones the desired goal?

Please use bid prices when posting to the board as taxes, fees, etc. can change over time yet the amount somebody else would need to bid to replicate your eventual win would remain the same, as well it prevents us from needing to look up the hotel tax rate in the region if we don't know it... for NYC, your $220 all-in is equivalent to about a $185 bid price. Also, as we don't know which hotel it is that you will receive, it's impossible to say if you will get a 'nice one' that is worthy of you bidding $220 vs. $185.

Typically weekend rates in NYC are usually cheaper than mid-week rates and that appears to be the case for these sets of dates as well. I think a 4* hotel for at $185 (or even $220) may not be enough for 10/23-10/26... but at ~$200-$220 you have a chance for the weekend dates.
