I have been trying to bid on a hotel in Central Park South/Times Square New York area for about a month (using the link of course:)). I am hoping to stay at about $150 per night. Do you have any suggestions. They have been emailing me that people are winning bids for less than $150 in that area the whole time but my bid, even when I took it higher, have not been accepted.

I also see people finding incredible prices on Hotwire for hotels in New York but whenever I look it is always well over 200 for hotels in the city.

Please help. :)

Rates are date specific and the occupancy (and therefore rates) may be lower for when you see others winning for less... same goes for the win alerts you get from PRICELINE, they could be for wins in January of next year (low season for NYC) which would have very little to do with what would be needed to win for your own dates.

For your trip above, what star level have you been bidding? If 4* you need to realize that you're bidding two of the most expensive zones at the 4* level and traveling at an expensive time of year... not a combination where $150 would likely be enough for a 4* hotel in one of these zones (or any midtown 4* hotels based upon the current prices i'm seeing)

Using MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best deal you're able to find at a 4* hotel for your dates thru conventional booking channels?
