freddesrf Posted October 18, 2012 Report Posted October 18, 2012 I'm looking for two rooms for 11/9 - 11/11. We'll be going to the BC - ND game but will have a car so I'm not terribly concerned about the location, though I would prefer closer to Boston proper than Chestnut Hill. Copley Square - Back Bay, Quincy Market - Financial District, Beacon Hill, Boston Common - Theater District, Cambridge East - Charlestown, Cambridge West - Harvard would be the preferred zones in roughly that order.I'd like to stay under $150 if possible and would prefer a 4*, though if the Westin Copley Square is a 3.5*, anything similar to that would be more than fine.I appreciate any help or strategies you may have to offer.
thereuare Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 Copley Square - Back Bay, Quincy Market - Financial District, Beacon Hill, Boston Common - Theater District, Cambridge East - Charlestown, Cambridge West - Harvard would be the preferred zones in roughly that order. Are you willing to pay more for a hotel in a zone near the beginning of the list vs. one near the end of the list... OR is the goal the least expensive hotel in any of these zones at your minimum star level?...if the Westin Copley Square is a 3.5*, anything similar to that would be more than fine. The Westin is current 4* rated by PRICELINE.Let us know regarding the zones above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. freddesrf Posted October 19, 2012 Author Report Posted October 19, 2012 First of all, as an ND fan I have to assume I wont get anything close to actual assistance from someone with a Maize and Blue icon, and that I'll end up sleeping somewhere in New Hampshire, but here goes.In response to your question, it's the latter. I have stayed in those first zones before and am somewhat familiar with them, but as its such a small town I am happy in any of them if I get the nicer hotel.I really do appreciate your help.

At current prices my guess is that $150 won't be enough for a 4* hotel in one of these zones, but let's start with the above and if rejected we'll discuss your options. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. needafourstar Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 Unfortunately, your guess was correct. I went up to $160 with no success. Would you recommend a similar strategy for 3.5*?
thereuare Posted October 20, 2012 Report Posted October 20, 2012 Please send me a PM as to which screen name you would like to use going forward... we will merge your two accounts and then continue this Boston thread. If/when others post to this thread it will get too confusing to keep track of which person is the OP, who is giving their own thoughts, and who is looking for help with their own stay.Would a 4* in the Waterfront-Convention Center zone be of any interest (still would be a stretch for a 4* but i believe that may be your best chance at the moment if you want a 4* before dropping to the 3.5* level)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks.
