AaronJB Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 Please continue using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links. The HOTWIRE amenity set would be a possible match for the Kimberly. The Westin Grand Central may also be a possibility.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.
thereuare Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 The HOTWIRE amenity set would be a possible match for the Kimberly. The Westin Grand Central may also be a possibility. The Millennium UN has now changed ownership and is the One UN New York... this would be a possibility too if they are using a new amenity set (and upgraded from the last reported 3.5* level), although i think the Westin would be my best guess. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. pinkaholic Posted October 21, 2012 Author Report Posted October 21, 2012 Using the site's PRICELINE link, I ended up increasing my bid to $230/night and got Hilton Manhattan East. With taxes + fees it came out to $561.88 for 2 nights. For those interested in rooms with double beds - I called to make a request for 2 double beds, and although they would honour my request if those rooms are not sold out, I will have to pay an extra $40/night to secure a 2-double bed room. Thanks for the help!
thereuare Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 Congratulations on your success! Hope you're pleased with the results and this property will work well for your needs this trip. Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding. Enjoy your stay. SquarePeg Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 Thanks for posting the info about the double beds. Somebody else on the internet told me it was ok to use Priceline for more than double occupancy, even in NYC. Based on posts on this board and other research, I opted to use a standard booking to ensure we had enough beds and weren't upcharged at check in. To anyone else interested in this hotel - the Hilton Manhattan East can be booked right now via hotels.com for 2 double beds for those dates for $232/nt. I searched using 2 adults, 2 children). You could book this on Hilton's site directly for $309/nt and put in a claim using Hilton's "best rate guarantee" and they will match the hotels.com rate and give you $50 back.
pinkaholic Posted October 23, 2012 Author Report Posted October 23, 2012 SquarePeg thanks so much for alerting me to the price on hotels.com! I was able to get PRICELINE to match the price via their "Big Deal Guarantee". And when I called the hotel to secure a double bed room (I only inquired before), the extra cost dropped from $40/night to $30/night. So in the end I think there was only a few dollar discrepancy between PRICELINE and hotels.com
SquarePeg Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 That's great. I wasn't aware that PRICELINE had any type of guarantee - thanks for pointing that out for future reference. Very happy for you that you were able to better that deal! We will be in NYC (Courtyard Marriott) over similar dates as you so let's hope for fabulous weather and low crowds. Have a great trip!
