Chill77 Posted August 13, 2005 Report Posted August 13, 2005 Hi everyone. I just found this board by luck (good luck so it seems after reading some of the posts).Although it's kind of late notice, my girlfriend and I are looking to go to NYC in a few days (17th - 21st (checkout)).It will be our first attempt using Priceline and I was hoping that someone could offer some tips before I start bidding. We will try for a 4*. Location doesn't really matter to us as long as it's not the downtown / financial district. Any of the midtown or uptown locations would be great. We're coming from Montreal so the exchange will kill us a bit....the less expensive, the better! Thanks in advance for any help.Shawn
thereuare Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 Welcome to BetterBidding!Have you read about and understand PRICELINE RE-BIDDING? You have two re-bid zones available at the 4* level, please read the prior thread and feel free to ask any questions that you may have and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board. Once you confirm that you understand re-bidding we'll be able to suggest a bidding strategy for your to follow.Do you have a maximum bid (US dollars) in mind? Do you have a current reservation (if so, where and how much?) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Chill77 Posted August 14, 2005 Author Report Posted August 14, 2005 Thanks for the welcome.Yup, I've read and understand 're-bidding'. I don't have a current reservation and was hoping to get something in the $130-$140 range. If you think it's feasible and have any input regarding bidding strategies...I'm all ears. Thanks for your input!
thereuare Posted August 14, 2005 Report Posted August 14, 2005 If that's your bidding limit (may be a bit low for a 4*) this is how i would bid:Select 4* MTE...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTW...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* UM/CPS...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and UM/CPS...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and re-access priceline however you did previously.Select 4* MTE and MTW and UM/CPS...Bid $140.We'll stop there and see how it goes... also saves a few bids in case you are rejected with the above and choose to raise your bid higher.Any questions feel free to ask. Good Luck and let us know how it goes. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
