joeycrush Posted October 11, 2012 Report Posted October 11, 2012 I'm looking for a 4* hotel in the loop from 10/26 - 10/28. This seems to be a very popular weekend. We're going to a concert at the House of Blues on 10/26. We're from the area, but I wanted to surprise my fiancee with a weekend getaway.I've booked hotels on Priceline for the same days of the week for under $90 before! This is crazy!I did try to attempt bidding once. I started with $150 with the Millenium Park/Loop Area for a 4*.$150, 4*, Millenium Park/Loop: Fail$160, 4*, +Midway Airport: Fail$170, 4*, +Skokie, Niles: FailDoes anyone have any ideas of what prices are looking like? Should I wait a day or two before and see if I have better luck? I'm really not too determined since we're from the area. Anything over $170 does not seem worth it to me.
AaronJB Posted October 11, 2012 Report Posted October 11, 2012 I think you're likely looking at $180-190 for a downtown 4* in either River North-NMA or Millennium-Loop-GP for these dates. HOTWIRE has what appears to be the Allegro (a 4* on HOTWIRE, 3.5* on PRICELINE) for $175. I also see what appears to be the new Ivy Boutique hotel for $221.I see what appears to be the W Lakeshore for the first night only for $109, but then it becomes trying to pair that up with a hotel for the second night, which is considerably busier. HOTWIRE prices you view may be slightly different.Let us know your thoughts and we would be happy to offer further suggestions.
joeycrush Posted October 12, 2012 Author Report Posted October 12, 2012 After receiving your advice I figured a hotel just for Friday night would be better than no hotel at all!I put a bid in on Priceline for $90 for a 4* for North Michigan Ave.I was awarded W Chicago Lakeshore on the first attempt.I'm pleased overall. Seems like a nice hotel and its only a few minutes from the House of Blues. Of course I would like to have known how much cheaper I could have gotten it for!
AaronJB Posted October 12, 2012 Report Posted October 12, 2012 Congrats on your success. Awesome deal for this W property, which is a short cab ride from the HOB - I'll also suggest requesting a higher floor, as even if you don't get a lake view (which is a paid upgrade), if you get a high view looking for the other way, you may get a nice/partial view of the surrounding area. If you are from the area and don't need to stay downtown and want an additional hotel night, there are some great hotels in the burbs that would likely be way cheaper for the additional night vs staying downtown.Thank you for sharing your win and please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches.Enjoy your stay.
