Trip dates: 10/19-26

I'm attending a conference on the strip. Not a gambler. I've booked the conference hotel but would rather stay someplace quiet with no casino.

I just want a quiet place to sleep. Someplace like a Hampton Inn with comfy beds and good breakfast. Did my research, saw there is a 2.5 hampton inn in summerlin.

Started with Summerlin 3.5 start at $45, rejected. Added 3.0 star and increased to $48, rejected. Went to 2.5 star at $50, rejected. Went up to $55 and changed checkout date to 10/25, rejected.

(I could check out on either the 25th or 26th, the conference ends the 25th).

any suggestions?

thanks,

Is Summerlin the only zone you're willing to accept? What is you receive a hotel wtih a casino in this zone?

You don't want to increase your bids and lower your star rating at the same time as it can easily result in an overbid. If you let us know your maximum bid at each star level (and if any other zones are acceptable) we will suggest a strategy for you to follow.

What is the conference hotel?

The conference is at the Mandalay Bay Conference Center which is at the very south end of the strip. Conference hotels are: The Hotel, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, & Excalibur. The Hotel & Mandalay bay were expensive. Excalibur was cheap, but heard it was noisy and it wasn't recommended on tripadvisor. Luxor seemed right but more than I wanted to pay. The conference offered the Luxor pyramid for $134 plus taxes plus resort fee, it came out to around $176 per night. I am paying for the conference and hotel myself. Thought I could get a better deal somewhere else. I won't have time to use the resort. I will only be in the room to sleep & just want a comfortable bed & bathroom. My family is not able to accompany me on this trip. I'd like a room in a safe part of town. (If my family was accompanying me, then I would stay on the strip because there's so much more to do there.)

I chose Summerlin because some old friends live in that part of town and its in my comfort zone. I plan to visit them during the trip. I would take a hotel with a casino in this zone.

Other zones are acceptable.

I plan to rent a car while there. I'll be content if hotel+taxes+car+gas is lower than the conference hotel rate at Luxor. I saw on the site that someone got the Hampton Inn for $45 in Summerlin, I know prices can vary with the season, maybe late Oct might be more expensive?

Rating Max Bid

2.5 star 70

3 star 75

3.5 star 80

Last question, the current time period is for Fri 10/19 and checkout either Thur or Fri 10/25-6. Strategy-wise, should I split up the bid for the first weekend Fri/Sat 10/19-20, and make a separate bid for weeknights Sun-Thur? Might the weekend occupancy & rates be higher in Vegas even at a suburban hotel?

Thanks again for your help.

If you're going to be very busy with the conference keep in mind you could be driving 30+ minutes each way to/from Summerlin which could get old rather quickly and consume a fair amount of time each day.

If you're looking to save money (as opposed to wanting to avoid a casino property) i'd stay off-strip Friday and Saturday nite, then take something like Ballys for $73/nite for the Sun-Thur nites... save yourself the hassle of driving to/from Summerlin each day and it's not known as a 'party hotel' nor does it have the flare of the newer properties so it should be quiet enough, imo, but you know your needs better than we do (also, no resort fee)

Your thoughts?

If you decide you want to stay off-strip, what other zone(s) are acceptable and do you want to first try for a 3* up to your limit, then if rejected try for a 2.5* up to your limit, then if rejected try for a 2* up to your limit?

Friday Oct 19 - sunday Oct 21 2 nights

$55.00 at the Holiday Inn Express on N. Nellis Blvd in the Speedway Area

With taxes came to $134.42

I planned to go hiking at nearby Valley of Fire State Park, happy with the win.

I did decide to split the trip into 2 parts. If nothing pans out, I'll use one of the conference hotel offerings.

Congratulations on your (partial) success!

Looks like a nice deal for these weekend nites and should work for your needs as you described them.
