Priceline Hotel: Help--4* or 5* 10/31/12-11/3/12 (Strip South)

This is my first time using Priceline and I want to get the best deal possible. I'm going to Las Vegas 10/31/12-11/3/12 and I want to book 1 room for 1 person in a 4* or 5* hotel in the Strip South area (Paris would be amazing). What's a good bid to start with? Ideally, I'd like to keep the nightly rate under $95 and I'd like to get a hotel with no resort fee. Also, should I choose 4* or 5* in my initial search?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Welcome to Betterbidding.

There is no way to specify a hotel without a resort fee when using PRICELINE, and unfortunately the majority of properties in Vegas do charge a resort fee. Considering that getting a hotel with a resort fee is likely, would that change your desired budget?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Well since the resort fee is charged upon checkout, then no it doesn't change my budget. So I guess realistically I'm shooting for a 4* and not a 5*.

Also, I started bidding and rebidding and once I had chosen the four rebidding zones for 4*, I couldn't figure out how to deselect those zones. I tried closing my browser like other threads suggested but that didn't work. Do I just have to wait 24 hours before I can start bidding again?

Wondering if any strategy for 5* strip south in same days? I've tried up to $130 but no luck.

As I want Vdara and Aria (the newest hotels in vegas), i would need strip south only. Any suggestion?

I found the prices on Vdara official site are getting higher.

After reading other people's wins for Strip South, I started bidding at $60 and went up to $70 and $75 until my rebidding zones were used up. No luck yet. I would like to stay in Strip South because I'm going to Vegas with friends who already have a room booked at Planet Hollywood. I'd like to be nearish to them.

bm07,

HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the Strip South zone for $80/nite but i suspect it might be the Luxor which doesn't exactly help you being close to Planet Hollywood. Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

Hmm, I guess so. I hadn't seen that thread so I hadn't considered it as an option. Would the best split be: Wednesday-Thursday and Friday? Also, do I actually have to wait the full 24 hours to start bidding again? I tried closing my browser in order to deselect the zones I had added but it didn't work...

The logical split would be 10/31-11/2 and then a separate hotel for the nite of 11/2-11/3. However, with it being Halloween on 10/31 i would try 10/31-11/2 first, but if that is rejected i would also try 11/1-11/3. However, you want to get your 2 nite stay purchased before bidding for the 1 nite stay.

Simply closing the browser doesn't re-set the 24 hour lock-out period, you still must use your re-bid zones in a strategic combination. However, changing the dates IS treated as a new bid so if you decide to try SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID you don't need to wait the 24 hours again.

Do you prefer to bid a little bid higher for your complete stay OR do you want to try SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID at the bid amounts you tried previously? Let us know this, as well as your maximum bid for the set of dates you want to try for first, and we will suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Yes, $105 is realistic for these dates (no assurance it will be enough, but it's within the right ballpark)...

To confirm, you're looking for a 4* hotel anywhere within the Strip South zone with a maximum bid of $105? If this is correct:

When bidding 4* in Las Vegas you have FOUR re-bid zones (NOTE: Summerlin is NOT one of them). If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Strip South...

Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $105

Any questions feel free to ask.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.
