TJTK Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 I tried (using the links from this board) PRICELINE to get a 4* in Philly - rittenhouse 10/19-10/21 for $125/per. RejectedAdded museum and bumped up to $135. rejected. I really don't want to increase the range and I'm not wild about some of the 3.5 hotels (I'm looking at you Embassy Suites - no way you're in the Sonesta league). I suppose I will wait till tomorrow and increase the price but would appreciate any advice. If getting the 3.5 drives the price down significantly, I can live with that. I can get a gov/military rate at the Embassy or Sheraton at $143 so $135 is certainly the upper limit for 3.5*Thanks for the help.
thereuare Posted October 10, 2012 Report Posted October 10, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please read your messages.Rates are very high for these dates and a 4* will likely cost you closer to $200 than it will $100... you can try up to $135 for a 3.5* but if successful i think it will be very close to your upper limit (and even that many not be enough). The government rate you have at the Embassy Suites is very good as 'traditional' rates are over $200/nite for your dates above. If you need help with a 4* or 3.5* bidding strategy let us know. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Let us know what you ultimately decide for this stay or if we can be of further help. TJTK Posted October 11, 2012 Author Report Posted October 11, 2012 Using the links on the board, I tried again for 4* rittenhouse $150. rejected. then added museum and bumped to $165. rejected. Not surprised based on your feedback (thanks!) but I wanted to give it a chance.Ended up finding and booking deal at Latham for $139 which is a steal as far as I'm concerned considering renovation and location. It pays to investigate all options.Go Blue!
