nicholes Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 I am trying to find a 4* in Soho Tribeca for 10/19-22. I am going to start at 140 and go up 200 for now.I am a noob and extremely paranoid about the re-bid process and wanted to enlist some help so I don't mess up. So far here are the zones I can tell do not have 4* : 4 Coney Island8 long island city9 lower east side13 MSH14 QBB17 UESIs this accurate? I can use these sections for rebids when looking for 4*?I have another question that I would be happy to post in another thread if you like: I know that there are some 5* in the financial/soho district but you cannot select 5* on priceline--if I select 5* and times square and add soho/fin district is it possible to get a 5* in soho/fin district even though it is technically grayed out?thanks!! I used the appropriate links thus far and will continue with your help.
thereuare Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 Welcome to BetterBidding! Is this accurate? I can use these sections for rebids when looking for 4*?Yes, you have your SIX re-bid zones correct when bidding at the 4* level, however, you should always double check them just before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed since you last checked.I have another question that I would be happy to post in another thread if you like: I know that there are some 5* in the financial/soho district but you cannot select 5* on priceline--if I select 5* and times square and add soho/fin district is it possible to get a 5* in soho/fin district even though it is technically grayed out?You can keep all questions for this same stay in this same thread. In the scenario above you could not receive a 5* hotel in the Soho zone since there are no 5* hotels offered there... you know this from the re-bid process (as per Priceline Re-Bidding Explained)Let us know what you decide to do for this stay and/or how we can be of further help along the way, although i'll add that usually your best deals come when you're able to include as many zones as possible in your bidding as it gives more hotels the chance to accept your bid (which should translate into the lowest possible price)Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. nicholes Posted October 4, 2012 Author Report Posted October 4, 2012 Thank you for your help. I tried some different combos several times using the links, PL is not for the faint of heart! I am going to call it quits with priceline, I think I would rather take my chances with hotwire. I will use the links there and post it in the hotwire forum if I buy something.I tried Soho 4* 140-200 with no avail and added MTE same prices also to no avail if anyone is curious.Again, thank you.-Nichole

thereuare Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 Congratulations on your success! Hope you're pleased with the results and looking forward to your trip.. this is a very nice, and upscale, property. You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and helping us add this new amenity set for this property to the Hotwire Hotel List.
