going to vegas oct.22nd for 2 nights really want to stay at the Wynn property, its my 10yr anniversary ;) but i can't seem to find a good deal and i don't see anything that sounds like the wynn on hotwire. my friend bid a few mths ago and got the wynn for $100 a night, wow! aria has a great deal $179 a night plus $100 in food and beverage credit. then i read the problem they had with the bacteria in the water over the summer and of course that made me think again. also, who has a really good buffet? i had Bellagio buffet like 6yrs ago and it wasn't all that. any suggestions on the hotel and buffet, or just a good place to eat would be much appreciated to make my anniversary a good one ;)

thanks!

no casino though :( that is a must! does the deals on Hotwire and Priceline change everyday?

There doesn't seem to be a schedule, but they do change fairly often. I'd suggest checking maybe 2 or 3 times a day, and then jumping when the price is right and the word "casino" appears.

You've got almost 3 weeks, so for now you don't need to settle on something not quite what you want.

When comparing between HOTWIRE and PRICELINE, do keep in mind Hotwire is a little more generous with stars than PRICELINE is. Maybe a 1/2 star. So a 4* on Hotwire might be more like a 3 1/2* on PRICELINE. There are examples of no difference and a full star difference, but the trend is about the 1/2 star.

You can see what other members have reported getting in the beginning of this Nevada area - the Hotwire and Priceline hotel lists.

While i could understand not staying at the Trump since the nearest casino is not that close, i wouldn't have any issue staying at the Vdara given the proximity of the Aria next door which does have a casino and is an easy walk... but you would know better than i would if this would work for your needs or not.

Keep us updated on your progress and let us know if we can be of further help along the way.

Still not seeing this on my own search for OCT 22-24... the 5* Strip South property on my search is priced at $86/nite and has different amenities.

Are you searching for more than one room or something other than the default 2adults/0children?

Using your dates and the default 2 adults/0 children, I'm also not seeing that $113 South Strip as of 4pm Central time.

The only South Strip 5*s with casino reported to this board have been Aria and Cosmopolitan. It is always possible one of the other hotels has been upgraded (fairly rare), or there is a brand new one (very rare), or zone boundaries have been redrawn (rare).

Since you are going to Las Vegas to gamble anyway, IMHO if you see that $113 pop up again it would make sense to also gamble on your hotel. Right away before it goes away again. Your odds are really pretty good for getting either the Aria or the Cosmopolitan. Or for that matter, a 5* Strip North with a casino could be the Wynn or some other really nice properties.

I am seeing the $86 one thereuare mentioned. It doesn't have a casino amenity listed.

PS - I'm a member, not somebody official here, so the above is just my personal opinion. But I've done a fair amount of Priceline and Hotwire.

thanks for your input, everything helps! its still there but i am a lil confused i guess.

hotwire

1 room 2 adults

oct 22-24

5* south strip was $245 NOW $113 with casino and the above amenities that i mentioned. what do you think this hotel could be? wynn and cosmo are north right??

Cosmopolitan has been reported as South Strip.

To see it, try its address (3708 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas, NV 89109) in a Google map, and then compare that to the Hotwire South Strip map.

Romelle, are yo useeing this property offered on your own HOTWIRE search?

I'd also suggest using MAPS and HOTELS.com to locate this property as you can use an exact address (such as: 3708 Las Vegas Boulevard South, Las Vegas, NV 89109) or simply put in "Las Vegas Strip" and then click the hotel name on the left side of the page... the map will scroll to the selected property and open an infobubble for the property.

This also enables you to see other hotels around it, and if there are too many hotels show on the map simply use the star rating OR price filters, or the SEARCH BY HOTEL NAME text box, to show fewer hotels that meet your specific criteria. :)

thereuare,

I've never seen the $113 deal, although I checked a few times. It must be one that pops in and out. That is why I suggested a couple times to OP to not hesitate when it appeared.

I have though seen the $86 deal.

My map comments were based on OP's question about both the Wynn and Cosmo being North strip. Yes on Wynn, but no on Cosmo. I also wanted to offer a way to actually see it, rather than take my word for it. I like your MAPS and HOTELS.com.com technique better than mine though. Just didn't think of it.

ok on the MAPS and HOTELS.com shows that the only 5* north strip hotels are the Wynn and the Palazzo that would have a casino. i see $151 for 5* north strip. are HOTWIRE and PRICELINE pretty accurate with the area? also are the wynn and palazzo amenities the same? have you ever stayed at the palazzo? clean? nice? i was so set on the Aria til i read about the bed bug problem and the Legionnaires disease :( any thoughts?

does PRICELINE have different hotels than HOTWIRE or do they sometimes have the same?

thanks for your help :)

The HOTWIRE and PRICELINE zone maps officially define the area in which hotels will be. In fact, if one gets a hotel outside the boundaries, that is one of the very rare ways one can (probably) get a refund. So - yes - accurate.

While HOTWIRE and PRICELINE sometimes have the same hotels, it is just by happenstance. They are completely different companies. Some hotels use both of them, some use only one, and some don't use them at all.

I posted this in #6, but thought it would bear repeating:

"When comparing between HOTWIRE and PRICELINE, do keep in mind Hotwire is a little more generous with stars than PRICELINE is. Maybe a 1/2 star. So a 4* on Hotwire might be more like a 3 1/2* on PRICELINE. There are examples of no difference and a full star difference, but the trend is about the 1/2 star."

Have you found the lists of hotels yet for Las Vegas Hotwire and Priceline that members have reported here? They are right at the beginning of the Nevada area, and are repeated in the Hotwire - Nevada and Priceline -Nevada areas. You can see how sometimes a hotel is in both lists and sometimes just one or the other. You might even notice an example of the differing star ratings. Of course, there is always the possibility of getting a completely different hotel not yet reported. It has happened to me.

Regarding how nice the hotels are, and the bedbug and other issues, I'd suggest you look at both the Hotel Reviews area at the very end of this web site and also www.tripadvisor.com. Always reading with the proverbial grain of salt. Sometimes people fuss about things that wouldn't necessarily bother you. Both sets of reviews can be very helpful.

ok this may sound stupid but when you go to hotwire put in your info and click on the map details of the hotel, say its a north strip 4 1/2* the green highlighted area shows #1-13 does this mean that one of those #s will be the hotel?

If you are referring to the orange square boxes (little arrow at the bottom pointing downward), those are "Points-of-interest", not hotels. They do coincide with several of the hotels, because the hotel shows are considered points of interest.
