Priceline Hotel: Help finding 3.5 or 4* NYC 11/3-11/8

Hello. We stayed at Element in NYC a few weeks ago. I found it on HOTWIRE and it was $193/night.

We are looking to take another trip to NYC in November but all the hotels I am finding are way more expensive.

Can someone give me some tips as to when and how to bid. Is it because of the time of year we are going? Can't find much for under $279+ per night. :(

It would be greatly appreciated if you could share the details of your Element win as a separate thread.

Unfortunately, much of November and December are prime time for holiday shopping/festivities and as a result, rates are usually high/quite high.

Did you want to bid on PRICELINE or use HOTWIRE? What would be your desired budget per night, and which zones would be acceptable?

To add to AaronJB's reply, the New York Marathon race week runs Nov 1 thru Nov 5, with the actual race on Nov 4, which may account for the higher rates.
